It continues to be amusing how accurate, and pointed, political cartoons are.
I remember when it was almost a carerr death sentence to be mentioned in some of the 70s and 80s cartoons

What The So-Called Gun Show Loophole Really Looks Like

In the span of about four minutes, he had sold two guns to two different strangers for $600. And he did nothing illegal.

This is what’s known as the “gun show loophole.” Private gun sales don’t require a background check, whereas purchases from a licensed dealer do. That dichotomy is on display twice a year at the Tulsa Arms Show, which calls itself the largest gun show in the world.

Well, rexdutchman, if it’s very funny, as you say, then you know what to do...

ah yes. the gun show "loophole". i'm guessing you've never been to a gun show, have you? well sparky, i have, in about 6 different States. I've bought and sold guns at gun shows.

nothing in that article says that gun dealers can sell guns without a background check. they are required. the leftist agenda here is to take away the rights of private citizens to sell .. as private citizens .. legally owned guns.

so what would your solution be here? make it illegal for private citizens to gather at gun shows and sell to other private citizens?

Now tell us, if you would, by your "logic" should direct sales of guns between private citizens be banned on .. craigslist?

well they aren't. here's a current ad on Dallas craigslist .... GUNS.

https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/sp...950887552.html

IT'S AN ASSAULT RIFLE!!!!!!

NOT! this whole assault rifle thing is crap. this is a semi-auto rifle, NOT AN ASSAULT RIFLE
which a full auto MILITARY WEAPON.

full auto weapons have been banned in the US since the 1930's .. in large part to the the Mafia wars. Al Capone.

guess what else you can buy on craigslist without a background check??

https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/sp...948907170.html

a Machete. should that require a background check too??

thanks for taking the bait, i knew you would. it's not an assault rifle. just looks like one.

is this an assault rifle? nope. it's a semi-auto Ruger mini-14 RANCH rifle. i own one.

let me show you a real assault rifle .. the mother of all MILITARY assault rifles ..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StG_44

this is also an assault rifle .. look familiar?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thompson_submachine_gun

the Thompson submachine gun is the primary reason selective fire full auto weapons were banned in the 1930's .. due to their popularity with the Mob.

this is NOT an assault rifle. it is NOT capable of selective full auto fire ..

it looks like this .. which is an assault rifle .. the M-16 ARMY RIFLE

they look the same yeah? what is the difference? one is capable of fully auto selective fire .. the other is NOT. the left wants to label semi-auto rifles as assault weapons. this is completely false. since i'm assuming you know next to nothing about guns, you have been brainwashed into believing any semi-auto rifle is an assault weapon.

this is false and any gun expert or military weapons expert will say so.

TWK - You are correct - and a well illustrated post.

I also own Mini-14's - that rifle can be put into a stock with a handgrip and appears similar to the AR-15 - and functions the same. It is not an assault weapon. It is just the appearance of the weapon that terrifies the ignorant DPSY's - who erroneously think a ban will fix weapons issues.

Or, perhaps, they are just banning a bit at a time to achieve a defenseless population they can terrorize - as did Stalin in Russia.

Of note - automatic weapons were not banned - National Firearms Act of 1934 put a $200 tax stamp on automatic weapons. The Gun Control Act of 1968 outlawed the transfer to and possession of automatic weapons, short barrel weapons, and suppressors unless possessed and registered prior to 1968.
Transfer of these weapons to private parties is strictly reviewed by BATFE

There has not been a crime committed with a legally transferred and held automatic weapon in the US. One must still pay the Tax Stamp to transfer and /or possess an automatic weapon in the US.
