Even if he is a "former" member, or even a lurking member, you can search his profile and posts.
I always ask a guy to shoot me a quick PM on here. (or wherever they say they saw me) If they are claiming that they are on here, but cannot shoot you a message, it is usually because they are trying to use another gent's info for screening. It happens a lot unfortunately.
If they are a former member, and have left here, it only makes sense that they would now be on some other board, so ask for that info. If they cant or won't give you that, they are probably a time-waster, just move on. There are plenty of cooperative, non-shady fellas to keep us busy and content.
