Default Blackmail/Extortion

Someone from SA is texting me demanding money in exchange for not releasing information about my account, including photos. This person sent my wife a text message a couple of months ago, and I reported the numbers to my local police dept. and filed an online complaint with the FBI. I never received a response from the FBI, and the local police dismissed it as a foreigner trying to extort money, advising me to block the number. They keep changing numbers, and this time they have wife's social media info, as well as my SA info. I have not and will not pay anything. Blocking the numbers does not help, as they continue to contact me with new ones. Please respond to this only if you have anything helpful, and not with should, would haves."

1. Close all social media accounts, including (assuming) your ECCIE account.

2. Keep your cell phone accounts open (for now) - more later.

3. Get new cell phone accounts with totally new numbers and totally new phones. Set them up as unpublished numbers. Set the phones to block all unknown numbers. Open an box at your local UPS Store. Tie the new phone accounts to your local UPS store.

4. Open new email accounts with random alphanumeric user names @ whatever. (Anything but Yahoo, the most hacked email service on the planet.) Under no conditions link the new email accounts to your new or old phone numbers.

5. Set up all of your legit accounts (banks, credit cards, etc.) that used your old phone number as a reference to your new phone number and your UPS Store address. ALL of them.

6. Copy your contacts list, important emails, etc. to your new phones.

7. Reach out to people you trust / have to have contact with with your new phone number and email. Advise them NOT to give this info out to ANYONE, no matter whomever they claim to be.

8. Once you are certain that the "vital" contacts have your new info, take your old phones and forward all calls to your local FBI or IRS office - usually it's in your state capitol.

9. Give it 2 - 3 months and then close your old phone's accounts. Do a "factory reset" on your old phones (If they are really old, remove the SIM card and destroy it) and turn them in for credit on your new cell phone accounts.

Yes, this will be expensive, time consuming, and embarrassing, but if you make one payment the harassment won't stop until you are broke.

And step # 10.: Never, ever, screw up this way again.

If you "have" to visit escort boards and sites, use an encrypted burner email (hushmail and protonmail) and a burner number (there are several good apps out there). Never respond to an escort ad that uses a Yahoo email address. Use only your burner number for all "adult" communications that require a phone number.

Consider yourself lucky.

Not to hijack but after making a general inquiry on RubMD I too received a threatening text and demand for money for “wasting their time”, and they’d done some basic internet searching and acquired minimal info about me from my cel. They “threatened” me and my family and included a photo of what would happen to me if I didn’t send them 2500.00. When I had an SO I always used a burner and it didn’t even occur or me this nonsense would go on, especially from one inquiry. Live and learn.

Could be worse.. a friend of mine contacted via text a lady he saw on AdultSearch about her ad.. he got curious because it was a young lady (looked about 20-22) but her rates were oddly low.. like 90 for an hour.

As the texting went back and forth something told him that something was not right so he declined and went about his day. Mind you all he did was text and asked about a possible session in the afternoon / evening, and the responses wanted him to come over ASAP... but no talk about her rates as it was posted on the site.

Fast forward 2 weeks later and HPD calls him on his phone telling him and harasses him for trying to have sex with a trafficked young girl. He explained to him that he never met her and he had the text messages saved offline and would be turning them over to his lawyer as well as the link to the ad, which was still up and stayed up for about a month.

The cops said they had busted the people who were trafficking this girl and now they contacting everyone who called/texted her

In todays hobby market anytime you see a hot provider and a low rate, there is something wrong.

The only time period this might have occurred was in 2008 to 2011. During that time I got some incredible tail for $200 an hour or less.

For $300 I got 10% tail with no rules.

Ya, it could be worse when you’re dumb enough to take the bait and believe everything on hooker ads.

A spoofed number called him masquerading as HPD, and the voice behind the spoofed number is the one who posted the ad. There is no “trafficked young girl”.

He didn’t need to tell on himself because first of all, how could they even prove that it was indeed him texting her???

It’s hilarious that you actually believe everything they said, and that you believe that they were “the cops”.

Cheers.

he showed me the number they called from.. which was the HPD main non emergency number. They called him 3 times.. 2nd time they left a VM with a badge number he later confirmed.

So.. yah Popo is either putting out fake ads to make arrests or have gotten ahold of some provider's # and is using it to go after clients.

I had a few of these. Typically they hit you with a few threatening texts and if you don't bite they move on to someone else. You never here from them again.

I think that you always need to report this to the authorities, and it's good that you have already reported this to your local police department and filed a complaint with the FBI. However, it's not uncommon for law enforcement agencies to have a limited ability to investigate and prosecute crimes that originate from outside their jurisdiction. If you haven't received a response from the FBI, it may be worth following up with them to see if there are any updates on the case. If you are a victim of sextortion, which is the use of sexual images or videos as leverage to extort money or other favors, please visit https://www.digitalforensics.com/sextortion for more information on how to get help. It's also worth noting that blocking the numbers does not always stop the perpetrator. Just hope you're safe now.

I just have 2 questions for you.

#1: Are they claiming that you've seen a Hooker and if so, did you see said Hooker?

#2: Is there evidence of any kind in writing on your cell phone that can be dumped by the police or found on your computers, etc. That these blackmailers also have copies of?

Please just answer these 2 questions and that is all...
