That is exactly what I am interested in. I also need to learn how to meditate and focus better in all areas of my life. I think it would be very beneficial for me and some of my clients.

TxBrandy's comments are very insightful to the entire discipline. It's really not just about sex. It's about sensual, soul, and energy awareness.

So why is it that I REALLY wish to believe that this is truly a gift from the goddesses and all that practice it but on the other hand, I see this as another selling tool of women everywhere and it's a bunch of phooey.

I'm jaded, I guess. But that one experience with that man who practiced it, I won't say that it was the best experience ever but it ranked right up there on top. AND ... there was something just different about it.

Please let's continue this discussion!!!

It depends on your personal beliefs. I don't say that I offer Tantra per se because I've never studied the entire 'system' of chakras and all that. I'm a pantheist which is under the umbrella of paganism but it means that I don't worship any deities including the 'goddess'. So with all that being said...

What I DO believe in is life force and the power of the spirit within AND without (energy aura if you will) and the ability to focus this and project this to others and within yourself. Anyone can do it and it can affect any aspect of your life, not just sexual. What is prayer? Basically the same thing. It just takes practice to be able to focus and meditate exclusively.

Many use tantra, karma sutra, etc in sexual rituals simply because it feels so dam good and it's the easiest way to release all that pent up energy and let your mind and body refresh.

But just like any lady can SAY they are GFE, people have different opinions on what GFE truly is. If you and the client are on a different page, it's not going to be as effective. If the client is with you just to scratch an itch, only a true GFE (or in this case sacred sexual artist) can overcome his intentions and truly make it an experience - physically, mentally, spiritually. Both of you have to be open to it, accept it, and just let it flow.

ACK vocal emesis again... sorry

No, I don't think it's a bunch of phooey. Yes, there is a selling aspect to it--I've run across several older providers who got into it probably to help with business, but in my experience it's a system that enhances the sexual experience. I don't believe in the religious part of it, but that's seldom emphasized. Like yoga, which began as a religious practice, tantra has benefits that are purely physical. Physical not only in sex, but also in sensual experience. I find that yoga also benefits my sex life--at my age--I need all the help I can get!

I'm with ya Brandy. I have learned some Tantric techniques that I occasionally use. Honestly, there are some clients I feel ..um..don't have an appreciation of the 'art'. I can see incorporating Tantra and/or Tantric techniques into almost every type session.

I love giving and receiving a good massage, have for years, practiced for years, asked questions for years. I don't like the rocks, nope. Skin freak not stone freak. All of that combined with acquired physiology for BDSM ...then add some Tantra. Yeah, I could go for that.

I know there are people in San Fran (and Carmel I think) who teach & practice both Tantra & BDSM. Somewhere in AZ, CO (Boulder or Denver maybe) and Canada all have Tantric schools, if I remember right. CT too maybe. I just live in the wrong area.

Tantra can be a belief system in and of itself. It's energy, it's a healing way, it is not necessarily meant as just another way to "get off". It teaches focus, breathing techniques, and meditation in order to build up energy and release it - after which your spiritual self can rest and be renewed. It's not so different than the pagan practices of sex magik, sex energy, and sex healing.

A lot of pressure (energy, positive and negative) is released during orgasm, calming the spirit.

A great example is to ask yourself. After an intense (or even not so intense) sexual (orgasmic) experience, would you really want to go shoot someone or beat somebody up or commit any act of rage? Hell no. Your tension and energy has been released in a safe way, better than popping Xanax.

I'm telling you, world peace only takes one blow job a day...
I have to agree with Brandy on this!!

My friend Meditates every day to release Tenison, stress, These Days I cant sit still long enough to do this, but I know my life would be a bit calmer..
Everyone who has commented on this subject has great points...

I went through my books and found "Tantra Spirituality & Sex" by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. It's a wonderful book and explains the concept and spiritual practice of Tantra. I have a few volumes of various titles that deal with Tantra and I would be open to the idea of sharing them.

Here's an idea. Maybe interested people could get together and discuss what they've learned, kind of like a book club. People who would like to share and experiment with the practical aspects could do that too. Is any of this appealing to anyone? I'd be interested in the discussion part.

I met Dharma about a year ago and I've been wanting to get one of her famous massages since then (also, with one of her compadres as well!). She is a gem, for sure.

This is exciting! And Brandy ... I don't think that you being down south should hinder much!!!

Elizabeth, you are always welcome to see me. As a matter of fact, my office is pretty central and I have the space for a discussion type meeting. Or we could meet at Star Bucks. Where's Princess Leaya on this idea? I put the book in my work bag so I could read it today. I read it a while back but I seem to be getting different things out of it this time.

Aw Brandy, you'll just have to make it top Big D sometime

Excellent point, however, this is where Tantra and the hobby often become incompatible.

Almost invariably, one of the first questions a provider asks me is, "how many times can you 'Pop' "? It seems as if the whole encounter is based on, or centered around, my ejaculations, not orgasms. No matter how much fun I have, or pleasure I recieve, she bases the sucess of the date on making me pop. I blame it on porn and money shots.

Slightly off topic, or peraps not, anyone familiar with the sexual techniche known as "Kareza" ? (Intercourse without motion)

Dharma, good luck with the "Tantric Coffee table"!.

I would think that a Tantra session would be different than your average hobby session and should be advertised as different. In my rituals, I tell the client I want nothing from him and I expect nothing from him. I don't care if he pops or not because that is not what the session is about. What the client does is lay there and FEELS with his mind, not his hands. I don't allow him to reach over and caress me. If he starts trying to orgasm (by thrusting his hips, holding his breath, etc) I have him stop, breathe in and out, and relax before continuing - thereby extending his pleasure and letting the orgasm happen "naturally" as opposed to encouraging it.

Totally different than a typical hobby session of riding your ass like a bucking bronco shouting "OH YEA, come for me baby! Who's yo DADDY!"

+1

Relaxation, that's the ticket!
(but it's so hard... to relax... when her....is....and....POP!)

Oh how I dislike parental references during bcd. For me, nothing kills an erection quicker than heaing her say, "come to mama!" or being called "daddy" etc.
