Finally, like Trump, he said he'd balance the budget. You can bet both were lying on that last one.

then he needs to be fair about it, fair trade. which is what Trump really wants. not just for Mexico but everyone. The EU, China, and yes even Mother Russia. i'll contend that neither China nor Russia or Mexico could withstand an all out trade war, if it comes down to it, to make them agree to fair trade. China is a house of cards ready to collapse. Russia, not so much but $20 barrels of oil would effectively crush the Russian economy. i wonder what that would do to Putin's re-election bid? bahaha.

the rest of the players, the EU, Japan and Canada to name a few, would fair better. but it would still hurt. Trump does not want everyone worldwide hurt by an all out trade war. but if that's what it takes to make it fair, then so be it. there is an easier way and that's what he really wants. negotiate fair deals for all.

i'll agree with you about the budget. i'd freeze it like Clinton did. but that did nothing for the debt of course, as far as reducing it. it just didn't increase it. it still amazes me that liberals today claim Clinton "eliminated the debt". he did no such thing.

The problem, is Lopez Obrador lying? Is he just saying this to improve his chance of getting elected? If you go back to some of his earlier stuff, it does indeed scare the shit out of the oligarchs. Furthermore, he hasn't respected the electoral process. When he's lost elections, fair and square, he's brought crowds onto the streets for months and even set up a shadow government once. This is one of the reasons why people compare him to Hugo Chavez.

Btw, Many of the oligarchs, the rent seekers who would rather have no competition from U.S. products or companies, would wholeheartedly support trade protectionism.

of course they would. but they aren't gonna get their free ride anymore. they better play ball with Trump or else take it up the ass.

You can't sit out an election and serve again.

interesting. so it's one and done in Mexico. a six year term makes more sense for them, given that. i wondered about that but didn't do a deep dive while replying.

If Lopez Obrador wins and IF he goes Venezuela, including rigging the system so he stays in power for the next 20 years, then people will at some point come flooding into the USA. Mexicans actually started leaving the USA under Obama. You could make the argument that Obama encouraged immigration from Central America, but not Mexico.

This is a great idea. I'm 100% behind LustyLad's plan to import temporary Latin hookers.

but what about the guys that cut my grass? aren't they entitled too? bahhaa.

I wouldn't go back for a $25 whore either. You have to pay $80 to $250, depending on location, to get a good provider in Mexico. On the other hand, if Mexico is Venezuelanized, based on analogies to today, $10 will buy a damn good hooker. Take a look at www.sexycaracas.com, and use the current black market rate of 2,951,374 bolivares per dollar to convert. Actually you can have an hour with a very hot woman for $3.

i wouldn't go back because of the continued violence. while it's abated .. somewhat .. that's in relative terms of course, i'd have to take every firearm i own and there's no better way to get life in prison in Mexico than that. simply not worth it. in life, there are times when being cheap isn't worth it. this is one of them. it's Dallas AMP girls for me. low risk, high reward.

I didn't say anything about six PRI backed presidents. That said, I'm not sure about de la Madrid (PRI). But Salinas (PRI), Zedillo (PRI), Fox (PAN), and Calderon (PAN) would likely have privatized PEMEX if the political climate allowed it. Pena Nieto (PRI) did open up Mexico to foreign oil companies. The Mexican public did not approve. As you note, Pena Nieto's approval ratings are perhaps the lowest of any Mexican president. So why does the Mexican public feel this way? I could go into a long explanation about the "national patrimony," the involvement of U.S. oil companies in Mexico before nationalization, and U.S. policy towards Latin America. With respect to the last point, in recent decades, prior to the election of Trump, sentiments of Latins toward the USA had improved. We've gone the other direction now though.
ok. 4 out of 6 were PRI. Pena Nieto, also PRI, pretty much had to, as PEMEX is highly debt ridden and can't afford the infrastructure costs themselves, so they really don't have much choice but to partner up with big foreign players, mainly from the US but i'd bet BP is into it also. and there there are other players wanting in, like the Chinese.

lastly, there is nothing wrong with being populist or nationalist, no matter what the liberal biased media wants to say about it. to their agenda, of course they are gonna label such a candidate or President as a racist, hate mongering xenophobe. doesn't fit their agenda. well too fucking bad. it's why Trump won.

BAHAAHHAA!

regarding PEMEX and Mexican public, I don't quite understand why Mexicans oppose privatizing PEMEX.

PEMEX as a private company would perform alot better than as a state company its currently is now.

Waco_Kid, I just hope we don't get into an all out trade war. I think you'd agree, that wouldn't be good for anyone. Something similar happened in 1930, and it was a leading cause of the Great Depression. Trump has some good advisers on this, like Secretary Mnuchin and Larry Kudlow. But I'm worried his natural inclination is to want to push this farther than he should. As you know, his chief economic adviser, Gary Cohn, left the Trump administration because of this issue, and now trade hawks like Peter Navarro rule the roost in the White House. Hopefully this won't end up like Iraq, where the neocons goaded Bush into a needless war. Bush basically had Saddam Hussein willing to let the weapons inspectors come in and search at will, but then the U.S. went in anyway, in order to remove a dictator and bring democracy to the Middle East. Hopefully Trump won't do something similar on trade.

Dilbert, I agree 100%. You have Mexican populist politicians who push the point of view that the nation should retain the oil and gas. This is of course, as Waco_Kid points out, socialism. PRI politicians pushed the idea because it was politically expedient. Lopez Obrador, who should be the next president of Mexico, is a true believer though.

you would think so. at this point, other than the fact they are likely to vote in Hugo Chavez Jr., is that Pemex is debt ridden and it's revenue is one of the largest streams of money for the Government. About 1/3 comes from Pemex.

Financial status

Taxes on Pemex revenue provide about a third of all the tax revenues collected by the Mexican government.[20] Pemex has a debt of $42.5 billion, including $24 billion in off-balance-sheet debt. The state-owned company pays out over 60% of its revenue in royalties and taxes.[21] Mexico exports crude oil, but imports more expensive gasoline.[22] National Hydrocarbons Commission, created in 2008 by the Mexican Congress to increase regulatory oversight, has increased scrutiny over Pemex in 2012.[23]

with that kind of tax rate, Pemex doesn't have much money left over to even begin to pay down 42 billion, which is also why they need US big Oil and others to partner with for new exploration.

them mexicans do like Eagles don't they? it's on just about everything government related from their flag to Pemex's logo.

obviously, Mexico has a stock market, has since 1933. i don't see it having enough volume to take Pemex public and come anywhere close to handling the 42 billion in debt that Pemex has.

if Hugo Chavez Jr. gets elected, it's a moot point but who would have deep enough pockets to buy Pemex? the oligarchs won't because they want it state owned. So only a foreign player?

maybe a big player, if the Government would allow it, buys a majority stake? i still don't see that as a realistic possibility.

22,000 Texans died fighting Nazis in WWII.

Anyone posting a swastika while at the same time denying the reality of racism should be ashamed of themselves for being so anti-American.

Their text disproves any claim the avatar is "satire" or the like. Nazi is as nazi does.

you need a history lesson, boy. the Swastika goes back to ancient Hindu religious symbols. like this ..

there are many others of course, but this will do nicely to make the point. now if i used that as my avatar, what would your reaction be? what if i happen to be of Indian decent? i'm not of course, but as a theoretical, what if i was?

by claiming racism, you yourself would be racist against my religion. how does that shoe fit now? you know, the one you just stuck in your mouth?

just to piss you off, maybe i'll change my avatar to this ..

have a nice day, social justice idiot.

oh and did i mention the Swastika is also a Norse Viking image? like this ..

it's the Viking Sun Cross. are you mocking my pagan beliefs you racist?!!!?

bahaha

would you be ok if i used the Sol Invictus as my avatar?

Ancient alemannic Zierscheibe (Late Bronze Age), with 9 rays as the 9 worlds of Norse mythology, and a central Swastika/Black Sun. Merry christmas.

bahahaa.

"you need a history lesson, boy. the Swastika goes back to ancient Hindu religious symbols."

And blah blah blah the typical rhetoric of neo-nazis not yet ready to come out of the closet.

Thanks for confirming my observation.

"Blah blah blah" .. is that what it sounds like when you try to post with your shoe stuck in your mouth?

btw, i've been reading up on you, boy. surprised? here's a gem of a thread you started.

https://eccie.net/showthread.php?t=1882243

interesting read. you seem to have an obsession with these two providers. or are you gonna claim it was in the general interest of the users here? some might agree, some might not.

no matter, the thread is closed now. as to whether it was relevant then is up to debate, but it's certainly not now.

I've never met any of the people involved in the !VI! case. Including !VI! herself. There were lots of folks debating as to what the reality was. Like most folks, I enjoy a good mystery.

But if you read the facts, now published in public media, you will find out that I was right all along. The pimp did all the posting, not !VI!. And he was found guilty*, and is now serving a significant sentence.

To quote Trump "I'm, like, really really smart."

* He confessed, and the court believed his confession
