Doing away with the Electorial College could be detrimental to the major Parties.

Doing away with the winner take all aspect of State vote allocation could make it prohibitive for any one candidate to get a majority of the vote.

That could lead to the House of Representatives electing our President.

Here's the problem for the short-sided idiots who are pushing this NPV route. It dis-empowers the voters in those states that approve it. What happens if a Republican loses New York and Cali but wins the national popular vote? Betcha the Dems in those two states would be furious, especially if it cost them what would have been an Electoral College victory under normal (non-NPV) rules.

You're right - this may have to be adjudicated by SCOTUS.

The irony is while the Dems attack the EC because it gives unequal weight to voters in different states, this NPV runaround would dilute the weight of voters in states that adopt it even more!
I agree and it is stupid of those liberal states to give up their electoral voting rights power, but I think they have found a legal way to do it.

The electoral college is needed to prevent tyranny by the high population centers in our once great Republic.

I think that gets back to the 3/5th's controversy.

I find the electoral college is needed to ensure we don't get stuck with liberal Presidents from here on out.

The electoral college was, according to many scholars, adopted to protect the slave states.

This thread is about the electoral college.

I assumed the comment was all over the topic.

Of course, i could have mistaken the OP. Maybe OP really meant electoral “collage,” in which case you’re all off topic!

Here’s an electoral collage for you.
