This car does get pretty good gas mileage it has four driver modes. Econ mode gives the best gas mileage but Sport and Sport+ burns a lot of gas. You barely hit the accelerator from a dead stop and it squeals the tires it's fucking ridiculous, I seldom use sport modes. I've only had this car a year lots of electronic features.
You’ve blended a couple different words. Detonation is an explosion after the plug fires, ahead of the flame front. Pre-ignition happens before the plug fires and is a good way to destroy an engine, detonation is usually just annoying.

One of the vehicles I have comes from a time when the Middle East squeezed the spigots tight and prices soared. People didn't buy it at the time because it was more expensive than the V8s regardless it got way better milage and had decent power. Prices dropped and so was the package from the line up. Today, alot of these new cars have the tech that was developed on my dinasaur (sp) of a car.

And what gets me, you could switch between regular and high octane so that the computer would adjust timing accordingly. Don't know why they don't have that as an option on these newer vehicles.
