For the record i did go to Reagan and i did go to the board meeting tonight! I had to see this for my own eyes. These people are a disgrace. Pandering for votes. They had 2 names already selected before the vote to replace John H. Reagan as the new one. They were North East High and Obama High! But the bitch in district one that pushed this took the obama name out and left the NE High. Which Reagan will be renamed North East High!
Fine. Then they need to take down our 2 state football championships, and our National football championship. Along with 2 other state athletic championships from our Gymnasiums wall! Along with our motto!
" Not Without Honor!" For that will no longer apply to this new school!


Funny thing is! John H. Reagan who was a brilliant and great man ; noted and commented after the war that. The South will be punished for generations to come!! We and John are still being punished! damn shame........

I can understand how you might be butt hurt that the AUSTIN ISD is changing the name of the school you attended 40 years ago, but these are different times.

You know, in Budapest, they took down all the Soviet era statues and moved them to the outskirts of town and put them in a dedicated park. But you won’t find any of them in their original places of honor.

They’ve moved on. We can too.

I would have been proud to have a Barack Obama HS in Austin. But I imagine you’d be moving to Costa Rica, WD!

I wonder if pressure from the AISD will be put on Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine to <henceforth> drop AUSTIN REAGAN from the annual list of past high school champs (and insert the "new" name?) Reagan, 4A Champs, back-to-back years, 1967 and '68...

I would imagine players from those teams were honored in some way the past 2 years (per their respective 50th anniversary seasons). Glad to know they did not have to endure the indignation of being honored by a school whose name they never shed their blood and sweat for....

I think Obama High School is the only answer WD. I was in Austin last weekend. I didn't see to many Trump supporters. In fact I didn't see any MAGA hats or Trump paraphernalia.
