It doesn't matter, the masks have been and will continue to be a security blanket for people who choose to be ignorant or have developed a psychiatric condition from the 24/7 fear porn that is the internet and the mainstream media.

It's never been about safety, it's just a cross around your neck that helps differentiate you from the barbaric heathens.

Well, I don't know about Bambino, who lives in Pennsylvania, but Gaston you can rest easy knowing that one more obstacle to a free America and liberty for all has been overcome. At least here in Texas where people no longer wear masks any more. And you can start in on the seat belt laws, DWI laws, and speed limits. While I've been a fan of masks since the beginning of the epidemic, I would like to fly down Interstate 10 at about 120 miles per hour with a thermos full of gin and tonic and a buzz, so do support your future endeavors.

On a related point, I understand that now cattle will be outfitted with masks to limit their methane emissions:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...-methane-burps

Methane is a green house gas that contributes to global warming. While I'm not a cow, I do belch a lot, so I will continue to wear a mask, to reduce my carbon footprint. Now instead of doing it for public health, I'll be doing it to save the planet!

If you actually take the time to read Fauci's email in context, it says that regular (not N95) masks do not protect you from breathing in the virus. It might block snot from being inhaled. Nothing new there....regular masks were always said to be a means for minimizing spread of YOUR potentially infectious droplet secretions to OTHERS. Seems many don't want to understand that concept. Fauci's interpretation based on knowledge AT THAT TIME, before full understanding of the prevalence of the virus (hence the subsequent mask advisory for all to protect others) was fundamentally correct.

I don't remember the numbers, but studies indicated the non-N95 masks did provide some protection to the wearer too. If say you cut your chances of getting COVID by 40% by wearing a non-N95 mask, and somebody with COVID cuts his chances of giving it to you by 60%, then perhaps the total reduction would be 1 - 0.6x0.4 = 76%? If everybody wears the masks all the time and Ro is 3, then do you get rid of the disease? I don't understand the science well enough to know if that's right, but you probably do.

You might say that it's impractical to wear a mask 24 hours a day, when you're at home or out and about, awake and sleeping. But that's exactly what I'm going to do going forward, to reduce my methane emissions and save the planet.

"If you're worried about pollution, nuke China and India and stop companies from industrializing other countires."

Great plan.....how are you going to implement it? Thinking with the little head rarely turns out well as documented many times on this very site. Thing is covid, pollution, economics, etc. are all GLOBAL problems and require GLOBAL solutions. Posturing and dick wagging aren't the answer.
