Hey, what do the locals do around here? I stayed near the strip a few days and I hate it lol. Where are the good bars, hangouts, and resturants?

Sorry for the late reply to your post (I missed it earlier). If you're looking for the more local friendly places here are a few suggestions:



Blue Martini at Town Square for a decent local bar

Bootlegger Bistro on S. Las Vegas Blvd.(near outlet mall) for good Italian food and some local nostalgia, and the bar is decent too
Table 34 on Warm Springs is a good place for lunch or dinner, low key place, ideal to chill with friend(s)

The locals places tend to be closer to where they live and it could be a haul from the strip. Usually you want to get a rental car since the fares might not be worth the round trip from the strip (or downtown).


Chinatown area (generally on Spring Mountain west of the strip) has a lot of decent choices and not terribly far. First place I can think of is Little Saigon (there's a couple other places in the same corner.
A little further down is Hot n Juicy Crawfish. Golden Tiki is a good drinking spot (never ate there). Pho Kim Long is open all night. A fair distance past those, I recall having a good meal at Joyful House. Aburiya Raku (hard to get seated) and there's a sister dessert place in the same plaza. Monta is a good ramen place. There was a decent Thai place but it looks like Irene's Cocktail Lounge took over the space. Cafe Moda is probably better known for the karaoke than food and there's a pool hall in the same plaza.


Closer to the Strat, M&M Soul Food took over another thai place I recall.


Closer to Henderson, I remember some monthly event (Wonderground) at Olive Mediterranean. The Ethel M Chocolate Factory isn't far from there.


The bars are 24/7 cause of the video poker machines. Locals have their favs bars because they like the people there and feel lucky in that place. I wouldn't throw any money in the machines there just because you won't get freebies for throwing around some extra tips from a big win at the machines (and you'd have to be there a fair amount to get lucky).
