Default AOC

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/comp...vG9?li=BBnbfcN

Amazon blasted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Monday after the Democratic congresswoman accused the company of paying its workers "starvation wages" and said its CEO, Jeff Bezos, became a billionaire in part by underpaying "every single" one of his employees.
"@AOC is just wrong," Amazon tweeted Monday morning from its @AmazonNews Twitter account. "Amazon is a leader on pay at $15 min wage + full benefits from day one. We also lobby to raise federal min wage."
It's relatively rare for Amazon to publicly condemn a politician on Twitter. The tweet included a video of Ocasio-Cortez's remarks attacking Amazon, which she delivered during a Sunday appearance on ABC's "This Week."

In discussing how Bezos attained his wealth, Ocasio-Cortez said, "If his being a billionaire is predicated on paying people starvation wages and stripping them of their ability to access health care ... and on the fact that his workers take food stamps, so I'm paying for him to be a billionaire, I think it's certainly a part of the equation."
She also added: "When you have a very large workforce and you underpay every single person and then you also participate in taking billions of dollars of government subsidies, that could be part of it."
Ocasio-Cortez said Amazon and Bezos should pay more in taxes, give up all government subsidies, send people to college tuition-free, and guarantee health care to all workers.

An Amazon spokesperson called her claims "absurd" in a statement to Fox Business.
"These allegations are absurd," the statement reads. "Amazon associates receive industry-leading pay starting at $15 an hour - in fact, hourly associates at our Staten Island facility earn between $17.30 and $23 an hour, plus benefits which include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance. On top of these benefits, Amazon pre-pays 95% of continuing education tuition costs through its Career Choice program for associates who want to pursue in-demand careers. For anyone who wants to know what it's like to work in an Amazon fulfillment center, sign up for a tour today."
Ocasio-Cortez has been an outspoken critic of Amazon in the past. She was blamed in part for Amazon's decision in February to cancel its planned second headquarters in New York City.

The Usual DPST condemnation with a total disregard for FACTS
Hear That DPST's out there????

Your Bronx SuperHeroine , as usual, has No clue as to her bloviating.

Keep up the DPST Efforts - AOC - show the USA what you and your Progressive Socialist Totalitarians are all about.

Destruction of the US economy and Subjugation of the people to a Marxist style Stalinist type Life under the DPST religion.

Facts matter Not - the Ends justify Any Means to the DPST's.

Nah, she'll end up serving drinks in the Bar across the street. Or maybe showing her tits in the Strip club two blocks over. Maybe she'll realize showing her tits is far more lucrative than showing her ignorance, lol.

I don't like her since she is a DPST, but I agree with her standing against those giveaways for Amazon - that shit is getting out of hand.

If it costs her the next election then AOC will find a high paying gig for herself and will no doubt give all her money to the poor...

i disagree.

here is some numbers from the proposed deal.

http://fortune.com/2018/11/13/amazon...ts-hq2-cities/

Amazon will receive performance-based direct incentives of $573 million based on the company creating 25,000 jobs with an average wage of over $150,000 in Arlington.

The New York City headquarters will be located in the Long Island City neighborhood in Queens. Amazon will receive performance-based direct incentives of $1.525 billion based on the company creating 25,000 jobs in Long Island City.

the VA average wage is 150,000. for argument's sake lets say NYC is 75,000.

over a typical 25 year cycle for that building that's 47 BILLION dollars. so they "give away" 1.5 billion to get the long term net difference of 45.5 Billion.

so let's say the NYC jobs are the same as VA and i think that they are, at an average wage of 150k now it's 94 BILLION.

anyone still think that cunt knows basic math enough to figure out the massive long term benefits that took me less that 3 minutes to google the deal and crank the numbers??

not a chance.

Your numbers add up but I still think Amazon was asking too much.

I understand they need to get a good deal and shouldn't be overtaxed but I wish they would not hold all these "auctions" to get the best deal and take advantage of their power.

Our best deals should be given to innovative manufacturers who export around the world.

So, a state or territory should pass up billions in future revenue for "innovative manucaturers" that typically generate less than 1% a giant like Amazon will?

Running a city or territory is basic math, i need X amount to keep my Y services running.

I didn't get any concessions for building where i did, but the business accross the street did. The difference? I'm all in for 30k on proprety taxes yearly, their facility is 5 times that. So the 500K tax credit they got to move there was chewed up in 3 years, in 3 more it's paid back, and we're on year 19 now. So i've paid 570k ish in taxes over that period, they've paid 2.35million (less the 500k) credit. Sound investiment in my book, over 400% return on an investment over that period i could live with.

The free market will determine where Amazon goes, and what deal they will get, and anywhere they land will be a windfall for that city and surrounding area economically.

A disobedient puppy that needs discipline.

Yes, especially for other property owners!!

I own property too and love it when the city makes an investment or induces improvements in this manner.

I'm willing to pay a proportional tax and so should Amazon, but I can see the logic in your figures, too.
