BTW — considering the history of that school and the declining attendance over the years, I’m surprised the district even kept it open. There’s been talk of shuttering it for years,

I have a friend who used to teach there, said it was a hellhole.

50 years ago, it was a great school. Great football team. Best athletic facilities in town.

Then again, 50 years ago, AISD was still segregated.

Surely the kids who attend that school today don’t need to be reminded every day about the Confederacy. Especially in a state where the history schoolbooks are subject to revision every couple of years by the religious right.

in 2018 the city of Austin identified sites, names and statues referencing civil war heroes and slave owners

buried in the report is the fact stephen f. austin defended slavery

soon enough they will come for stephen f. Austin

and the city will be renamed jordan and most people will think its named after michael but it will actually be for barbara
