Default Tornadoes through Alabama

I hope all of you are doing well. The estimates are the one tornado was on the ground for 100 miles. I have seen pictures of Oak Mountain State Park and it is a wreck.

Yes, that’s some scary stuff... I have lived on the coast for many years, and I have always said, if a hurricane gets you, that is your fault, a tornado is a completely different animal...my sincere thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who was affected. The aftermath of a tornado may be fascinating, but I suspect that the experience would be horrifying, if you even have a chance to realize what is happening... it might be better to never know what hit you, idk

I feel that I should make an additional comment about my statement that “if a hurricane gets you, that’s your fault “, it needs to be understood, some people don’t have the means to pick up and run every time a hurricane might be coming this way, it’s just not that easy sometimes... the weather guys offer worst case scenarios, I guess it’s their job.
From my experience, I left town for Ivan in 2004, my house was untouched, I stayed home for Katrina in 2005, and I wished I had left, idk ... I guess all these years later I have have some funny stories to tell now, it was definitely not funny at the time...

From my experience, if a hurricane is Cat 3 or above, "Get to hell out of Dodge!"

Although I do have plenty of family in the coastal areas and when I visit and there's a even a hint of a hurricane listed in any Category then I'm just gonna dodge it all together and get the Hell out.

I was down in the panhandle last year when Sally came through. She was ONLY a Cat 2, but the flooding, power outages, and roads closed made me wish I had left. While my hotel had power, there were few restaurants open or even grocery stores. Even the gas stations that had power quickly sold out of anything edible. That's the last time I have dinner out of a vending machine.

I totally agree - even a Cat 1 will have me leave the area.
