Always thought a lifetime ban was too harsh in most circumstances unless a verifiable danger to the membership has been proven.

Was that the case? I know there are nuclear rules but am frankly puzzled by them and really havent spent a lot of time educating myself about them. Can we get Cliff Notes published about them?

Is there any sense in petitioning for a lifetime banned members reinstatement?

Thats where the smoke and mirrors involving punishment confuses many. When a punishment is handed out, those people ought to be used as clear cut examples of what NOT to do. It may also cut down on the cries for reinstatement as well....

From Forum Guidelines:
Quote:
#18 - Multiple handles are not permitted, unless in certain circumstances are expressly approved by staff in advance on a case-by-case basis. Action will be taken in cases where staff finds multiple handles are being used for deceptive reasons, to carry out an agenda (promotion or trashing of another), or to return to the board following a previous suspension or ban.

Seems I could have posted in Doove's thread lol

Still quoting guideline 18 isnt the be all, end all. Does that explain everyone who is banned or more of a reference to one person?

Again if rule infractions and punishments were more transparent I think many issues would resolve themselves.

As it is, it seems its all rather ambiguous and that the mods have quite a bit of leeway in doling out punishment.

No...

Moderators can't hand out lifetime bans...

Lifetime bans are very rare, and reserved for the kind of nasties that don't even enter Upset NY radar.

Here is what can happen.........fucktard X is banned for 90 days on points by the system..........fucktard X gets a chip on his shoulder and goes on a handle making spree to do whatever it is he wants to do........each of the back up handles are perma-banned as they are found........each time a new handle is banned the 90 day ban starts over at day 1........just food for thought.

Ah-ha! I feel as if the sun has broken thru the clouds and suddenly all has been made clear!

Leave it to DH to explain it so even I can understand.

And at an additional 90 days per handle infraction .... well that can certainly add up to feel like a lifetime!

Thank you.

True #18 just may only explain one.
Perusing these may help you with the rest....Forum Guidelines.

You misread what I stated could happen.......it would not be an additional 90 days per handle.......it would simply be a restarting of the 90 day clock back to day 1 each time fucktard X posted with a new handle........the two are not the same.

It is not the policy of this board to stack bans. It can occur that a retard can receive a lengthier ban for a repeat offense (outing real world info would be an example where that has happened)

If fucktard X made it 80 days without posting with an alternate handle, and did so on day 81, the consequences could be a re-setting of the 90 day clock back to day 1.
