Mechanics won’t release your car before you pay and if you don’t, they can put a mechanics’ lien on it. Same with contractors, who usually charge part up front.
Perhaps if there was a Hooker Lien, then no one would charge upfront.

Never paid a doctor in advance. Did not say any thing about an attorney? Much different when you have to have their services.
Mechanics will not release your car before you pay obviously. But you do not have to pay in advance, I never have.
Never paid a contractor up front but I buy the material and just pay for labor. Contractors charge up front if they have to buy the supplies so they do not go in the hole on the job.
When you have good credit and pay your bills people I do business know they are going to get paid.
I do not get your point, comparing apples to oranges.

I wasn't comparing anything. I made a statement about what happens in my life, including it’s up to the customer to not pay upfront if that is his choice.
And for the record, I’ve never paid a retainer to an attorney.

Microabrasions be damned. Not brushing your teeth and/or shaving right before a date is nasty...

I concur 100%.
When someone wants money up front I view it with a jaundiced eye...to many ripoffs out there and I only deal with the reputable well establish in business and have never had a issue with paying after services are rendered.

The difference there is that those professionals have recourse if you don't pay. They can call the police and you can be charged with theft or theft of service. The mechanic can put a lien on your car or keep your car. The CPA can refuse to release any documents to you until you pay.
Providers cannot do anything. If you decide not to pay us, there is no recourse.

Have recourse? Not always.
An attorney can not sue his client hence a retainer or up front fees is the norm.
A CPA is required to release all documents you provided whether you pay or not. BUT they can keep the return until payment is made.
A mechanic can put a lien on your car but what good is that if you keep the car until the wheels fall off.
A contractor can put a lien on your house (provided there is a valid contract) but you have the right to live or rent it out for the rest of your life.
Call the police? Seriously, good luck with that lol. That is why we have a court system

Where did you ge the idea a lawyer can’t sue a client? A lawyer can, but most of the time, the client countersues for malpractice. Retainers aren’t the norm in all areas of the law.
By the way, I’m not advocating hobbyists paying up front, I’m saying that ladies have a right to ask if they want and the gents have a right to decline. We had a lengthy discussion about this before and I think the happy medium is placing the donation out in plain sight and no one touching it until after the fun.
Fact is, if you’re seeing the right ladies and the ladies are picking the right guys, it doesn’t much matter.

Who's to say the client won't take it after the fun when you're not looking? Just saying...
