Default Finally, the Democrats and Republicans agreed on something...

I am obviously outraged by yesterday’s events in Washington, it is shameful and I hope all involved will be prosecuted to the full extent of the the law.
One thing that struck me as ironic, both parties finally agreed on something, they both chose to haul ass.. hell, maybe they will finally find a common ground, I’m not going to hold my breath...

I say fuck 'em all. WE pay them to represent us, be productive and all they do is power monger. May they all burn in hell! They are the worst examples of humanity I know of. Burn in Hell!

Why we have elections.
There is always Revolution but that was not an example of one.

Given time and forensic (sp) specialist of the digital kind, the people who were part of the mob, worst examples of humanity, are slowly being brought up on charges. Love watching the videos of them being busted. So hilarious to watch them weep.

Good luck on elections now.

I mean why? Why be exposed to jury duty.

Till they fix our election confidence, there is no reason to vote

I hear you Hawk, my mom said she received 6 absentee ballots in the mail, she has been a poll worker in her community for years. I personally didn’t receive any... the truth is, I live in Alabama, a democratic candidate doesn’t stand a chance in this state but by no means is Alabama a swing state. What is ironic, George Wallace ran as a Democrat in the 1972 presidential election, I honestly don’t what changed...

Like Texas: vote early, vote often.

Yeah, I wonder how the Dixiecrats flipped.

I can see where you're coming from there, Steel. My ex-wife lives in Georgia & my ex-MIL died in early 2019; she received 3 absentee ballots in the mail even after my ex-wife sent the request to remove her from the voting rolls that same year. Granted, she was a registered democrat.

It would be sad if it weren't so pathetic.

I was reading some of my old conversations, precious_b, and you said that you wondered how the “Dixiecrats” flipped, it crossed my mind that Jimmy Carter may have done it... my Dad was furious with Carter and my Dad was also a lifelong “Dixiecrat”, the economy went to shit under his administration

You also would have been paying a lot of interest on a loan back then, 18% comes to mind, PreciousB, it was before my time, I think inflation was really high back then ...

Jury duty is one of the prices you pay for living in a free (at least nominally) society.

In a criminal trial, 90% to 95% of the time you are there to dot all the i's and cross all the t's to lock up some scumbag who really needs to be locked up. Once in a while in that area, you're there to put a needle in the arm of something that stopped being human quite a while back.

The other 5% to 10% of the time, you are there because the guy at the defendant's table REALLY needs someone to hear his side of the story.

I had no debts or loans. So the good memories of it.
Cash is king. Or as my dad said, "Nothing speaks louder than money in the bank."

Not having a home mortgage at that time would have been good, that wasn’t the case for many Americans, at that point, what do you do?

PreciousB, you may have a point, Idk, I do recall that Ronald Reagan won the 1980 Presidential election in a landslide, so maybe that’s why my Dad was unhappy with the Carter Administration. My Dad was a mechanical engineer by trade, he was essential in establishing a credit union for the employees of the plant he worked in, so the economy may have been the reason he had an issue, I will never know, it’s not a topic he would have discussed with his 14 year old son, and he died in a hit and run car accident in 1991...
