Thumbs up "...a date which will live in infamy."

It's hard for me to imagine but today, December 7, 1941, is the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and the U.S.'s induction into combat operations during WWII.

70 years ago! That means the youngest person alive today (assuming they enlisted at the legal age of 18) would be 78+ years old! Sadly, the Greatest Generation is dwindling away at an alarmingly staggering rate and they probably won't be around for the upcoming generation of youngsters to learn from. So take this opportunity, and any other opportunity, to say thank you for a selfless sacrifice and allowing us all to enjoy the lives we carry on today.

I remember as a kid knowing WWI vets.
Don't see them anymore.

Get to know a WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Hell, ANY Vet!

They won't be here forever.
And they have alot of experience that we can learn from.

Trust me, any black shoe sailor will never forget. I served 20 years in the Navy, was stationed on several ships, even re-enlisted one time on the Arizona memorial. It is scary what happened and I am truly thankful for their service and sacrifice.

For those not familiar with Navy terminology, black shoe is a term for a surface or shipboard sailor. Aviation sailors are called brown shoes.

.....a group of us who are retired E9s from all services attended the remembrance ceremony in Fredericksburg today.

In the hubbub of life in the 21st century, it is easy to forget what almost happened to the United States of America in the early 1940s. In Fredericksburg, Texas, Dec. 7, 2011, looking out at a half-dozen or so frail but proud men, heavily wrapped for protection from the cool winter air, forgetting was just not possible.

Well spoken Dennis- I wish i had been there. Words cannot express the mostly unknow precarious situation our brave men kept us out of in WWII and One. NONE of the new generations really know how close we all came to speaking German or getting sake for breakfast with a samurai assfuck every day. Man, it makes me swallow hard to think about what might have been, and to think that it was partly in vein because of the blatant disrespect youngsters today have for law, liberty, and human life.
The greatest generation has come and gone(mostly) and as Hitler burns in hell running sidesaddle to Satan himself I wonder if he is starting to see a trend that gives him hope. He probably says 'Haha, you only THINK i lost"

Peace to all tonight. Join me, swallow hard and be grateful for our war heros. God bless each and every solitary one of them. Old, new, died and serving...
