Default CC...Looking for a home...

Which areas are the safest in CC for a single woman to live without breaking the bank?

I'm looking at making CC home base but not counting on it for an income.

anywhere from everhart and south. airline, staples, cimmaron and most stuff going towards the island. id stay away from north and west C.C. like weber, kostoryz, ayers and anything going that way. obviously, the worse the neighborhood the cheaper it is to live there, but you can still find good homes in nice neighborhoods to rent or buy. I might also suggest contacting a few local providers who may share good intel such as their realtors/landlords phone # etc. Good luck on your search!

The hood has even gotten expensive. It isn't as cheap as it used to be.

Southside mall area have good neighborhoods.

My suggestion is to rent for 6 months if that's an option you would consider so that you'd get to know the area and really look around. Heck, you might find that you'd rather live on the outskirts like Calallen, Annaville, Portland or Flour Bluff - all within a 10-15 mile radius of Corpus. You need to look at the flooding map (beware of south side), taxes, windstorm etc. It takes time to do that research. Best Of Luck.

I think you may want to consider the Portland area.

All Good advice. Thank each of you for your input.

I will be renting until I have stayed in the area at least a year or more. I don't want to live in town when I buy a place.

My plans for retirement is to buy a place on the coast that is away from everything where I can have horses, cattle, and bucking bulls. I plan to make every off the grid and not have any utility bills or payments.

You're probably needing to look west of Calallen out Hwy 624 - perhaps as far as Orange Grove. The surrounding area around Sinton also has land as you describe. Banquete is another nearby community but not as popular.

If you are looking for waterfront property as well as a place for livestock you might consider Rockport, Hollywood etc. Good buys available right now, and you can build later.

I live in Rockport and it is definitely a buyers market in the area
Heard today of a tear down house on a canal lot in Palm Harbor for $40,000.
Unfortunate but true.
