Default Will The Texans Win Out? Your Thoughts

The Texans are now 5-3. We are done with the really hard part of the schedule. There does not appear to be any other team left than we cannot beat. We could easily finish 13-3 although it would be my guess that we go 12-4. Our defense is getting better each week as the players get more comfortable in the new system, the offense is clicking as Foster and Tate are 100% and back in football shape after early injuries. We have shown we can drive the ball on anyone. With Andre coming back in a few weeks we should be high powered and ready to go finish out.

We will not win out the regular season.

Every week is a tough week in the NFL, just ask the New Orleans Saints who got beat by the winless St. Louis Rams today.

I don't know, these are the Texans we're talking about. I'm a big Texans fan and hate to really say that they can't win out. But, they've let me down way too much in the past. It seems that they FIND a way to lose games sometimes thru boneheaded mistakes.

I'm sure we'll handle the Colts and Titans just like we did the 1st time. I don't know if we'll be as lucky playing Jax at home. We also still have to play the rest of the NFC South...Tampa Bay, Carolina and Atlanta. I think we'll lose against ATL but win against Carolina. The Tampa game is up in the air depending on which Tampa team shows up. They could possibly win. I'm still sticking with my original prediction at the beginning of the season of 10-6.

+1 to DJ's post. While every game is winnable for any team, there are a few that stand out as places where a lapse from the Texans will equal another notch in the loss column:

@ Tampa - I think this will be 'dre's 1st game back.
Atlanta @ home - tough match up for the DB's
@ Cincy - December weather in Ohio can equalize things and their D is playing pretty damn well.

On paper, they should win all of their remaining games but I still think that they lapse and lose 3 but sneak into the playoffs anyway.

They will not win out. Let's make sure they get by Cleveland next week!

Any given Sunday they can fuck up!

My worries are any team in the NFC South and Cincinatti. Especially if they have to go there. And they're not a cold weather team. Even with all this said, they should get into the playoffs this year. If they don't, Kubiak's ass is GONE!

I keep reading the word "we" when referring to the Texans team...anyone here on the team?
They will find a way to lose at least 2 more games they should win, but will finally make the playoffs.
My .02 worth.

Fuck no they won't win out. Schaub alone will lose 2 or 4 games for us. Schaub is the weak link. He cannot extend the play at all and makes way to many costly errors like the fumble yesterday that gave the Jags their first touchdown.

I went to the game yesterday and they played hard enough to win but didn't really play hard. If they don't get used to playing hard all 4 quarters of every game I'm not sure they will make it to the playoffs. To win it all you have to want it bad. I don't think they do.
I think they have most of the tools but they have to want it.

Many of the key players have already "won" the NFL sweepstakes. Their desire to win must come from somewhere other than wanting the big payday.
Of course some of the guys are making moderate salaries in NFL standards, example...Arian Foster. His payday is coming whenever he becomes a free agent.

I think that generally speaking, once these guys start making HUGE money, their desire to excel diminishes. They just want to go to work and go home with their paychecks, just like regular working class folks.

Oh yea of little faith. Consider the points that only three teams have beaten us. Raven, Saints and Raiders. If Foster and Tate had been 100% for the Saints game we win. If Vickers catches that wide open pass and walks into the end-zone we beat the Raiders. Against the Ravens if Foster and Tate were 100% we had a chance to win. We have not been "out" of any game so far. The rest of the way no one has a defense as good as the Ravens or an offense as good as the Saints.

Consider the fact that we have started every game, I think, we a drive right down the field and scored. Look at what we did to the Steelers. We took that opening drive and marched right down the field and took up most of the first quarter and destroyed their defense the rest of the game and totally beat up their offensive line. Since that game look at how the Steelers have played. So what does that say of our ability.

All that said, up next is the Browns. McCoy with his less than 5 yard per throw average, our defense eats him up. Tampa does not have a great defense, heck the Colts scored 17 on them. If Andre is back and Foster is 100% we score almost at will. Think I am kidding. Jacksonville had the something like the 5th best defense in the league and we scored 24 on them and left 14 more out there.

Personally when Andre comes back we are going to be hell on wheels as far as offense goes.

This team is totally different than past years. Look at the new people who are here who have no link to those past teams.

It is virtually impossible to play hard all 4 quarters in a NFL game. By the middle of the 3rd quarter you will be totally gassed. Most play close to 3 quarters solid. The other team rarely lays down. Most will fight back and control at least one quarter.

I agree with BL, it is difficult to "play hard" 4 quarters of every game. It just ain't gonna happen. The Texan's are playing hard enough to win the AFC South this year and if they manage to do so they could go
"All The Way!"

Playing hard in October only helps get them there. I would much rather see the Texans playing hard in the postseason!

Maybe you're right BL. Last year they could barely scrape up two quarters if that. Hopefully they can pull this off but seeing is believing. I will just have to wait and see.

They will make the playoffs.

What do you guys think about our upcoming free agents?

Mario?
Shaub (next year)?
Rackers?
Dreessen?
Foster?

Will they come back to Houston? Does Houston want to resign them?
