Do you have a problem with saving taxpayer money, old-T? Reining in those corporate ripoff boys in green eyeshades who have been fleecing the Pentagon for decades? They will use every security upgrade ("change order") in the design of this plane as an invitation to steal. If Trump saves just 10% - that's $400 million. Enough to do another 56 job-saving deals with companies like Carrier (and rev-an-anus thinks the Carrier deal will "bankrupt" us, lol).

--Security
--Communications

I know this is kind of hard for you to comprehend while you are in Rant Mode, but generally folks want to provide the president a little more security when he travels around the world that is available on your typical airliner--even Trump's.

Also, there is this thing called National Command & Control. It isn't done over a Cricket cell phone. And no, it isn't just a matter of slapping a new radio onto anyone's airplane.

So you want to cut out a third microwave? Cool, go for it.

You want to replace the leather seats with cloth? Doesn't matter to me.

But I hate to burst your bubble, those aren't the things that drive that $1B equipment bill.

Question: Do you want the president of the US to be as secure and safe as possible while flying off the Saudi coast within range of Iranian missiles?

Question: Do you want the president of the US to be in comms with the strategic US forces, even over the middle of the south Pacific?

If you answered "no", then you are clueless about what matters. If you answered "yes", THAT is why AF-1 needs replacing.

Other parts of your post are equally wrong, but we can address those at a future date. And most the reasons come back to whining sniveling folk--both Lib and Con--who don't really believe in the free economy they say they believe in. People like you believe in profit only so long as it goes into your pocket. State your source that he plans to use his own plane.

The article states he feels the cost of the new AF1 is too high. It never says he will use his personal plane or use non-secure communication as president.

False choice, Old-T. If I answer "yes" it doesn't mean Boeing gets a fucking blank check. I have enough experience in federal contracting to know how it works and so does Trump. First, they get the contract, then they load it up with "change orders" which are paid on a cost-plus basis and generate the massive cost overruns that you and I as taxpayers get stuck with the bill for.

And don't give me your condescending bullshit about my not believing in the free economy. Someone said it was a no-bid contract - how is that reflective of free market competition? It's not.
