Default Electoral College Favors Republicans

https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/...-concentrated/

However, the new Democratic coalition — dominated by upscale whites and racial and ethnic minorities — is badly organized for capturing political power in the federal government. It is heavily concentrated in a handful of states that go comfortably for Democrats, leaving many states to go more narrowly for Republicans.

To wit: Donald Trump lost the popular vote by more than two percentage points in 2016, yet he carried 30 of 50 states and won 304 Electoral College votes.

All in all, the collapse of the Democratic farmer–labor coalition, and the rise of the new upscale–minority coalition, has resulted in Republicans now enjoying a noticeable edge in securing an Electoral College majority, and a huge advantage in winning a Senate majority.

Plurality of the vote matters!!!!

Which is the basis for the DNC's new tactic of getting rid of the "Electoral College" and packing their favorite states with illegal voters. The "New Democrats" want to turn this country into the shit-hole from which their "new voters" claim to have escaped to enjoy the "free stuff" promised for their votes.

I agree with one part of the statement. The majority of the states lean Republican which does not bode well for Democrats regaining control of the Senate in the near future.

However, Trump barely won the electoral vote in 2016 with narrow victories in several states -- Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to name the 3 most important. Currently I see no state that went for Clinton in 2016 turning red in 2020. I predict Michigan will return to the blue column in 2020. Pennsylvania also looks like more than a decent possibility to turn blue too. So, in my opinion, that leaves Wisconsin and Arizona as the 2 states that could decide the election in 2020.

If you mean the people when you say republicans, then yes the electoral college was designed to take power from the few and give it back to the many.

Article II

Section 1. The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress:
A little tweaking ... it was designed to assure the lesser populated states would have more say in the POTUS elections, so that the entire country is not controlled by the likes of California (which did not exist at the time) and New York, which was a brilliant decision on the original thinkers, since those two shitholes couldn't run a one-car funeral without outside funding, which is the basis for HillariousNoMore winning the popular vote, because HER constituents need more outside funding.

So now they favor "open borders" to stuff the ballot boxes again. And at least one loon running for POTUS advocates illegals voting in national elections, because ..... they are impacted by the elections!!!!!!

So are the Chinese people ...the Russians .... etc, etc. Just let the whole friggin world vote for our President and VP.

The Democrats love turning great cities into shitholes. They have been doing it for years.

The founders thought in terms of the state's being a little more autonomous. So they protected the smaller states from the more populated states with the electoral college.

At the time of the revolution, slave holder states had the majority. Small anti-slavery states such as New Hampshire would not have had a voice without the electoral College.

counting the slaves as 3/5ths person was a factor.

but that changed after the civil war where former slaves were counted as full persons for the first time.

"At the time of the Revolution", New Hampshire was a slave state. So was New York. The notion that the Electoral College was established to protect the institution of slavery is complete and utter bullshit.

But it does support the "notion" of reparations for the victims!

Sort of like tearing down the statues in the South that the Democrats built to honor their effort to protect slavery?

The SocialistLiberalAntiTrumpers prefer to rewrite and scrub their historical foundations.....even though they seem to be edging back to the concept of "separate, but equal" with their "safe-places" on campuses around the country. The statues may get resurrected and re-installed yet.

They may yet establish a Governor Wallace Day to celebrate his visions and asperations!

Barely won? Trump got 304 to Clinton's 227. that is 77 votes. So in terms of the only thing that matters .. the electoral college .. Trump crushed Clinton. in what sport is losing by 77 not getting whipped?

do you recall the Madcow bloviating that Trump couldn't win even if he got every swing state? well that bitch doesn't know math. He did get every one which is in itself was improbable but Trump did it. a 77 vote edge is not close. Not a landslide either but that's not the point.

So... which one do you suppose the dim-retards regard as "illegitimate"?
