i never understood OF or how it worked. Why a recurring sub? Why the ridiculous prices? i do not advocate it. I do not advocate paying for ANY non-physical contact (porn).

however, I now understand OF.
1. it is the wild west. There are no regulations for customers since its really just a "donation" site. Didnt get the content you thought your ordered? go fuck yourself.

2. Lots of escorts offer subscriptions at ridiculous prices (>$30/mo). These are the real scams where they have very VERY little content. Ive seem some where the only content they offer are the outdated pics they use in their ads.
3. They create content but it may only be offered in 3 or 30 second clips in their media. THIS is why they get you with subs. They only offer full-length content via DMs. If you're not subbed, you won't get the message. Oh, and the messages are likely just farmed out to some Pakistanis that are running 30 accounts at once to make it seem like the performer is active or interested in you.
4. Ive subbed to some when they offer freebies or low rate if they arent available for escorting merely to proposition them over DMs. Hasnt worked yet. I think that must be a no-no because many key phrases for such a request are banned in DMs

i think the OP was more about companions using new platforms to advertise.
Ladies used to do a strip circuit to gain more clientele.
Nowadays...it seems like OF is the be-all-end-all.
I've seen LOTS of girls that escorted trying to make it big with OF, instead of escorting.
Camming, PornHubbing(?), OnlyFans seems like where girls think they ought to go to to make a buck, not realize how much work/content is required.
Look at any StG ad. Half of them are advertising their OF or Snap page there to get your $ rather than meeting.
THere are plenty of FREE alternatives.
What is the allure of porn? its something new, you've never seen, something fresh.
Today's porn is absolute garbage.
I imagine these 'personalized' (cam,snap,OF) venues have the allure of being live/completely new to the consumer.

People have such short memories.... was it a year or so ago that MasterCard said it would no longer process OF account payments because the grand majority of accounts were "pornography without appropriate safeguards to ensure that minors do not access adult content?"

All of the OF "content creators" screamed like the Supreme Court just took away women's rights. (That happened a year later.)

A veteran (and one of my favorites) porn star, Cherie DeVille, wrote an op-ed piece on how she learned the "real" porn trade and now how she has developed multi-level marketing that if one piece falls off, it's not the end of the world. Her message to all of the OF "content creators" was to put in the work. She basically gave away her business plan, free to anyone who wants to put in the hard work she did.

She's a very smart lady who plays a not-so-smart porn star very well....

MasterCard walked their position back when shareholders did the math on how much MC was making off the "content creators". So their income is safe... for now.

I know a lot of former providers who make just as much or more on OF... But it's just a corporate decision away from going "poof"!

I have a few model friends on OF, Fansly, IG and other pay for content site. One told me that its not the selling of bundles of photos or videos that make the bucks.. but its the re-occurring follower's monthly fee that does it. Take a lady with a 5 dollar a month fee (most are 5-10, some on loyalfans charge 30+) but take 5 a month per follower, 100 paid followers. That's 500 a month, OF and the other sites take 20% so 500 - 20% = 400 a month.

Yes it takes time to create content but if the lady can do 400 a month (after taxes) on 3+ sites then her basic bills are paid for, its legal, there is no contact with the customers per say so there is the safety issue handled.
