Default Help , i have a Virus !!!!

Hey
So I was reading a forum here about free pornsites and I went to one that someone suggested, and got a virus. The virus has changed the backgroumd of my desktop and every time I start my computer it starts a window that looks like its scanning for viruses and spam and it keeps telling me via a popup windows that am infected. How do I get rid of it? Is there a good program or AntiVirus that I can get from the net for it? Any help is welcomed. Thanks.

If you can still get to to other websites that is good. The spy or Malware may try and block you from downloading a fix. But cnet is a good place to look. Also you can do a system restore on your computer and try and go back a couple of days before the event.
That's all I, know Kim Komando is a good source for free help too.

AVG (just the free download) is pretty good since it's free (just use the free download and keep it up to date). What Tulsa suggested is good as well...or try to do is determine what you are infected with and download what works accordingly to clear it up.

The following are all good free tools for keeping the computer clean and free of malicious code as well as other nasty stuff.

CCleaner

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Revo Uninstaller

Avast! Antivirus

Zone Alarm Firewall

This particular POS is hard to remove. The usual AV stuff can't remove it. It buries itself deep in the registry. Our IT/tech guy knows how to pull it but it is a pain.

Porn? There's porn on the internet?!

first off were you surfing for porn without protection? Bad
AVG free is a good program. Been using it for years but now that you are infected it might try and block your download. If yes a clean install might be an option. Don't do any banking or shopping online till you get it fix.
Another GREAT program is spybot. It finds and can clean up just about anything.

easiest way is to do a system restore in safe mode if you can get there. go back 3 or 4 days.....and update your virus definitions. most of the time stuff is out of date or expired. if your running freeware programs.....run at least two. or one antivirus and one good spyware.

cvs, Got 'em. Saved as a word doc so I can look like a hero.

I use AVG on my beasts. And I'd *never* think about going on a porn site.

There have been several versions of this same scam. It is intended to get you to buy their anti virus program. You can try to get on safe mode as soon as you start your computer and go to safe mode with networking so you can access the Internet. My abase nor malawarebytes picked it up. I downloaded the trial or free version of stopzilla and it found it. I manually deleted the registry entries that the virus uses. Reboot and all is well.
If you can't access safe mode, you can download from a different computer and put it a USB stick. Run stopzilla from your flash drive, don't move it on to your infected computer yet. Once you clear up the virus, install stopzilla.
PM me if you need more info.

I've seen folks like you get virused and mostly the safest thing to do is re-install Windows. That way it cleans the HD or any stuff letf behind.

I'm still on XP so I'd say restore points is best if you're really jacked up. If that don't work, it's time to pay the piper. If you can load free proggies, Malwarebytes and Spybot are quick but didn't do the trick the last couple of times I used them. I've had better luck with Avast. I'm still waiting to hear how my buddy did with BitDefender's bootup disc. I hate to admit it (after +15 years doing this) but these days it's almost worth spending the $35 for Norton or FixIt. Good luck with the updates.

Once you get going, Zone Alarm Firewall fire wall is fast and efficient, but I've been using Comodo lately.

And yes there is pron on the internet:
http://www.xnxx.com/
http://www.pornhub.com/
http://youporn.com/

I think there's one called Tube8. It'll send down so many $hit crackers at once, you can't shut them down quick enough.
