The person "out of touch" with Americans is Obama....and here is the polling data to support it.

Gallup polling says Americans see the views of GOP candidates closer to their own !

Hussein Obama is at the bottom of the Gallup "Distance From All Americans Ideology" index. Even Michelle Bachman was closer to most Americans !

We will find out this November which party was outta touch for the last two years...

My guess is it will be a mixed bag. Obama re-elected and the GOP taking back the Senate.

So what do you think of Santorum's foreign policy statements?

Fiscal conservativitism?

Gasoline prices?
Taxation?
Government response to taxpayer concerns?
The welfare state?
His knowledge that women are subjugated to the men of the earth is enough for me. I couldn't' care if he kisses babies, want's $200 or $25 a barrel gasoline, balance the budget with real numbers, whatever! Nothing, but nothing can make me over look, that he thinks half the population is subservient to the other half; his Gods are the only God(s) that count; and that gays are the skurge of the earth. He is as outdated as his stupid, patriarchal views. He's a dangerous religious fanatic. I wouldn't vote for the ayatollah either!

If you were able to determine that from the poll you link to, then you're pretty clairvoyant.

Outside of Obama, the average "% with no opinion" was 26%. Not sure how you can determine anything from any opinion poll in which 1/4 of the respondents have no idea how to answer. Fact is, if the % with no opinion people broke down consistent with the respondents who did have an opinion, the story would have been far different than you paint it to be.

And that's just the problem with your suggestion that's easy enough for me to feel like dealing with.

Women like or dislike someone for a lot of different reasons OTHER than their stance on issues. One, he has a weird sounding (and spelling) name.

The other? As a long time fan of Dan Savage's column, Savage Love, I've heard the other meaning of the word "santorum":

"The frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the by-product of anal sex."

Alright. Nasty to do that but I can understand why an openly guy and married guy with kids might wish to ahhh .... cough ... spew that meaning.

http://blog.spreadingsantorum.com

Sure, perhaps I shouldn't judge whether I am for a candidate because of his stance on just one or two issues, but if you're seeing blank stares on the faces of your female students when you ask them the reasons "why", that could be it.

They're probably too shy to actually say that it has to do with his view on issues of a sexual nature and his overall view of women and gays. Maybe not, though!!!

I know right! But people like him are dangerous.

What's WRONG with the Republicans. We need Obama out of office! To do that Republicans need to abandon the illusions that "Bloody Mary" on the throne with his finger on the little red button can defeat a sitting president no matter how incompetent Obama is! The whole dealio is being handed to the Republicans on a solid gold platter. And they are bound and determined to fuck it up with religious fanatics and other morons screaming that a moderate Republican that will get Independent votes and ELECTED is a member of a cult or too rich! I thought the money-grubbin' Republicans liked rich people or is that they only like rich people that don't have as much money as they do or are more fanatically Christian than they are.

republicans have been derailing the country since Reagan increased the debt 189%, and squeezing out the middle class little by little.

WE NEED a solid independent candidate with a good head on his shoulders who isnt tied to special interest groups, and doesnt owe a shit load of congressional wannabe's more favors than Coors has beer ... that breed doesnt exist, Right, Left OR Middle.

There are no viable politicians.

I agree 100%. I have never voted party lines. I am a die-hard Independent. I voted for Perot because I was ready for a change then, and I am more so now. Both sides of the isle are responsible for the mess we are in. Carter started and Clinton finished deregulating the financial industry. Regan, Bush, Bush and Obama have done nothing but drive up spending. I think Romney is the most middle of the road person in the running. I know he's middle of the road because righties hate him for his policies and political ideas.

Perot on NAFTA: "You hear that giant suckin' sound? That's all your jobs going to Mexico." And he was right.

I loved Stockdale too. When he was asked his position on abortion and the legality of it at the debate he answered, “I believe what a woman does with her own body is her business.” The commentator asked, “Is that IT?” And he answered, “Period!” Gotta love a politician that that actually answers a question.

You are right to a point. If we only look at Democrats and Republicans, we will never get out of the downward spiral we're on. We have to look elsewhere. As long as Republicans and Democrats remain in power, nothing will get done except to line their pockets, and the pockets of their cronies, with a few crumbs spilling out to the people to keep us quiet.
