Perhaps to the simple minded like you.
If we are to have laws, and systems to support those laws, they must be working. They aren't. The media and the Dims are insisting that we have more laws and bureaucrats that won't work and will make criminals out of formerly law abiding citizens.

Actually, those laws were working just fine until a former US President, The Ovomit Comet, essentially gave stand-down orders to the schools. Appears that educators were making referrals to LE and LE was doing follow up work, which included recording the statistics about such contacts and offenders.
This resulted in revealing that some schools had many real dangerous attendees and tended to make the school look bad. So The Ovomit Coment used his magic wand and cured the negative number trending by having them stop making referrals to LE. Ala-kazam - problem solved.
What could possibly go wrong - in Parkland?

Mental health is a large issue , just look at the wal mart guy AP today :Ator had suicidal tendencies in 01 .
He broke into a woman's home to kill her brother , DA down play to simple arrest and mental health care well none?
So once again the system that's gonna save everybody didn't work
