LexusLover brings up an interesting point. Are humanitarian concerns a smokescreen for Democrats? And concerns about violence and crimes committed by illegals a smokescreen for Republicans? Is the real issue that illegal Hispanic immigrants or Hispanic refugees, at such time as they’re able to vote by becoming citizens or otherwise, predominantly vote for Democrats? And where are the Labor Unions on this? Presumably the last thing they’d want would be low skilled immigrants, illegal or legal, coming to the USA. But maybe their desire to have more Democratic voters in the long term outweighs that

You’re right Banscram, mistake on my part, I edited to make the post clearer. I think Republicans are mostly concerned about illegal immigrants and refugees, not other immigrants. As to whether those who entered legally would be more likely to vote republican, I don’t know

The later have a documented history that sets a time line for citizenship, whereas the former can fraudulently sneak into the DACA group and expedite the process of citizenship.

If you look at the House bill introduced this month you will notice a "slight of hand" in the wording ....

.. the word "American" is used in the bill for identifying who would be allowed to vote under the bill. Anyone from South, Central, or North AMERICA is an "American"!
