Default Intrusion Alert

Norton just popped up with an intrusion alert notifying me that it had blocked an intrusion from web site eccie.net. I just thought you moderators ought to know you may have a gremlin creeping around and maybe have your software guru take a look.

Norton listed the intrusion with the following specs:

Risk Name - NMap Null Scan
Attacking Computer: eccie.net (174.123.112.146, 80)
Severity - Medium

I'm not on the staff, but:

Sounds like there's a good chance this is a false alarm. Port 80 is the port web pages use. If there's some network problems, Norton may think the legitimate, but garbled, responses from the system to your web browsing are an attack.

Did you get one alert or does this happen often?

Do you use a wireless connection to your PC, or are you behind a home router?

Were you surfing eccie at the time you got this alert?

This is the only alert I've ever gotten that pointed the finger at eccie according to my alert history.

I'm behind a home router but have a hard wired connection to it.

Yes, I was surfing eccie at the time the alert popped up.
