I will say that if they start offering porn, they'll have to change that name to something else.

Only advantage I see is that if you don't have high speed internet, you may have a smoother experience with a disc instead of streaming.

There are many people who still cannot afford the cost of internet. I travel close to 260 days a year and to a lot of rural towns. Red box is cheaper to then than internet. Many homes in these areas are far awy from any service

DVD players are so cheap these days (thirty bucks at WalMart, for example) plus the cheap rentals at Redbox? Yep, quite a viable option.

Redbox now offers streaming as well, so you can get still in theater movies for a small price.

I've only used Redbox once or twice (Provider suggestion.)
Both times the DVD was damaged and wouldn't play.

@Mokoa, yeah, they are cheap. I remember buying the ones that you could specifically hack to play all regions.

It is a cable TV box. You used it to select a channel to watch. The cable connected to the back and another cable connected it to a TV. You tune the TV to channel 3 and then use the contraption to tune the cable channel you want to watch. I used that particular model back when I was subscribed to Bexar County Cablevision.
