Default Visiting SD And Looking For Suggestions

I am visiting SD in August and have been told to try Mission Valley and Carlsbad. Does anyone have any favorite hotels for an incall that they would recommend? Also, food recommendations would be greatly appreciated as well. This is my first visit, and although brief, I would like to experience a wee bit of what the city has to offer. Looking to whet my appetite a bit to convince me to come back again.

I'd suggest my hotel but you're coming in and leaving before I get there.

John, I am moving to LA in September so there is a good chance I will be in SD often.

Was considering a work trip to San Diego as well. Did you get any feedback?

Mission Valley is pretty central to all of SD. There are plenty of restaurants and some nice hotels. There are a ton of motels in Hotel Circle.

Are the hotels in that area safe to work out of? I am thinking about coming there from Dallas.
