TSA Thieves
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/...623-story.html
I have major issues with the TSA, I think the Airport Agents are basically wallpaper, just there to make passengers feel more secure.. they are next-to useless, as far as I'm concerned. every time I go through an airport screening, I tell them up front "I don't want my wallet out of my sight".. you have to lay it in the little tray, it disappears briefly, as the tray slides through the machine. meanwhile the damn agent is trying to distract you away from viewing your valuables, assuming you're the next Terrorist about to strike. at no point does my stuff leave my sight, but other passengers just seem to surrender. "they help keep us safe".. yeah, yeah, sure they do.

I agree with Mr Tran. I do not go thru until my stuff goes thru. They rushed me once and my work laptop never came out. Then they claimed I never had a laptop. I had to explain then why did I have a computer bag with a power cord. Then it got fun ...

They can't be trusted to NOT steal a few hundred bucks, ipads, ipods, mp3 players, phones, etc. from American travelers. What's going to slow them down if a terrorist org gives them some real money to get something they shouldn't thru security?

Put everything into a bag and zipper it shut. I leave everything in my backpack, tablet, phone wallet etc, and watch as it rolls through. If someone tries stealing it will be much harder than small loose items like watches and wallets. Fly smarter so you don't have to worry about this shit. Upgrading to global entry and a tablet computer have saved my travel anxiety from popping up. And I travel A LOT.

+1 for TSA Precheck / Global Entry. Makes life much easier. Problem is, at least at some foreign airports they don't know enough to put Precheck on your boarding pass.
At one west coast airport, which shall remain nameless, I've had endless annoyance with TSA when passing through coming back from Asia. Said airport is neatly arranged so that after you clear customs, and if your bag is checked on through, you can just put it on the conveyor belt and go through security right there. Very nice, except that there are only two lines, Precheck is never open there ("not enough funding" the guy told me), and the agents are real jerks. So I had to go through the regular line with all the take off your belt and shoes routine, take out your laptop, etc etc... Then the guy told me I had to take off the money belt I had under my clothes and send it through the Xray machine. I told him in no uncertain terms that that wasn't going to happen, seeing as how it had a couple of thousand dollars in cash inside. I finally got through, all the while muttering to a foreign gentleman, who was also complaining, that these folks could learn a thing or two about how to do things from the security folks in China (from where I had just come, and where they are pretty thorough but also courteous and efficient).
After repeating this experience a few times I decided enough was enough. The last trip I simply put my checked bag on the conveyor belt, then went outside the airport up to the main terminal ticket counter and had them reprint my boarding pass to say Precheck. Went through normal security Precheck with much less hassle.

Got my leather bound weekly minder stolen at Atlanta TSA last week.
They wanted to search my briefcase by hand and never replaced my leather case.
Agent had her back to me going thru my brief case.
Damn, probably cost less than $30 ! Who steals $30 worth of anything ? Probably thought it was my wallet.

I've traveled to Mexico countess times. Have NEVER had a problem. You have to research their policies band practices before you fly so you know what to do and what not to. Gotta love red light green light!

FWIW the real professionals at airports despise, laugh at or pity the TSA,, they are routinely referred to as the SMURFS, pilots whistle the Smurf theme going through security, youtoob is full of videos of ordinary passengers fucking with them.

Just to add insult to injury: "The TSA is going to look through your books but promises not to notice what you're reading".... "In the new system, passengers are required to take all reading material and food out of their carry-on luggage and place it in a separate bin. TSA screeners can "fan" through travelers' books to see if anything is hidden in the pages, but agency officials insist they will not pay attention to the content."
