It would be nice if somewhere on the verified providers profile it indicated on whose say-so verification was granted, so you could exercise a bit of informed judgement there. But it is what it is.
Pretty much, "verified provider" status here means that, at the time of verification the provider being verified is legit (i.e., not a cash-and-dash artist, blatant upseller, or working for LEO). It's by no means a "seal of approval" as to quality of experience, and, obviously, just because a provider is legit now doesn't mean she will remain legit years into the future.
