Default Protecting yourself from nasty experiences

Here's something nasty that happened to my good friend Juliette. I'm wondering what other bad experiences people may have had and how they might protect themselves in the future.

My escort friend Juliette told me, “This guy ripped me off. I’m about as careful as you can get. I always insist on references. I usually talk to the client to see if there is anything that might make me feel uncomfortable. I’m careful not to say anything incriminating just in case it’s law enforcement. Not only did he rip me off, he also threatened me. He had a number of reviews posted, sounded fine on the phone, and his references checked out.”

“So what did he do?” I asked.

“He left the unsealed envelope with my fee on the table where he was supposed to, but stupid me, I didn’t peek inside when he went to the bathroom to wash. I trusted him, although I shouldn’t have because through the session, he gave off weird vibes, and I had a hard time getting into the session. When he left, I found the envelope was empty. I called him immediately, and he started berating me, calling me a stupid whore, and that he would report me to the police if I gave him any trouble. He also said he might come by and knock some sense into me. I was shaken up and felt sick for a week. I’ve been doing this for five years, and it’s the first time anything like this has happened. The part that really scared me is that he came to my incall, which is also where I live, and it's just not that secure. He could easily break my door down. What am I supposed to do? It’s not like I have his real name. I can’t call the cops.”

“I don’t understand how his references checked out,” I said.

“This is the scary part. He pretended to be somebody who had posted reviews. I contacted two providers via email who he had supposedly seen and they both gave me a thumbs up. I should have verified he was really who he was supposed to be.”

“How could you have done that?”

"Well, I could have asked him to physically describe the providers he saw, or have asked the providers to describe him. Or I could have asked him to send me a message from the board using his handle on the board’s messaging system. He could only do that if he was the actual client. I’ve learned my lesson and I’ll be much more careful in the future.”

Hopefully your friend realized she needs to have a separate incall, away from her primary residence.

Sorry it happened too her and she did learn her lesson in at least checking the envelop to make sure the money is there.

Now on a sad note, I have witnessed ladies that only makes sure the envelop is placed down and looks like there's something in it but never checks it or justs puts it in her purse without counting it. Now a client that she has seen more than 4 times, she probably does trust him that its all there.

+1 I'm surprised that someone in the biz 5 years would allow a 1st time client to come to her home , a HUGE no no, not even a long time steady should be able to do that IMO. The last thing she needs to worry about is $ IMO.
Sorry that happened to her .

Red face

Apparently some guys will take on an identity to get past screening. It happened to both CJ and myself. These are very bad people. Send a PM to verify. These ass wipes don't have access to our ECCIE accounts. Sorry that happened to your friend.

Maybe after a longer term business relationship/friendship and trust has been formed, but certainly not a newbie in your personal home.

And yes, of course check the money up front. I prefer we count it together as that leaves no doubts or issues later on.

Is nobody else going to point out that if she had done her screening properly that she would never have been in the situation in the first place?

thats pretty much the point of the story SG. If she doesnt require a positive identification via PM, from whatever board, anyone can claim to be anyone and pass screening with flying colors.

There is a whole other thread going on this very subject right now
http://www.eccie.net/showthread.php?t=416988

My post from that thread

As SL illustrates, anyone can "claim" to be anyone. There have been sporadic reports of this happening over the years and the session inevitably turns out badly. Some long time very reputable members reputations have been tarnished, on both sides, for lack of a simple positive identification.
