I don't think Abbott has a position, but whenever his Phase 3 occurs, I think that will incorporate AMPS and everyone else into the green light.

this article doesn't put a good spin on the current situation. but Abbott marches to his own Drummer.

Of course it's going to paint a red state like Texas into a bad light.

It's MSN. What they won't tell you is if those people are in the hospital BECAUSE of covid 19 and/or if the mortality rate is what it is DUE to covid 19.

They want people to stay in their homes for the rest of time. I'm glad Abbott doesn't give AF to what they say.

But I think the tide is changing, people are getting more and more rebellious towards this bullshit and I hope more people follow.

People will get infected. Some will get sick. Even fewer will unfortunately pass away. This is inevitable. The sooner people understand this, the more likely herd immunity happens.

As for the NW highway building violations, couldn't they just fix the violation and it'll be a problem solved? As far as I know, it wasn't a raid, right?

it technically was a raid, since it was sudden, unannounced. but they weren't there to arrest or round up anyone. it could be a fixable situation.. as American Hardwood said, it may have been a new signage violation, or it could be something like the installed gate was not "authorized".. I don't know the details. my impression when that gate was first removed, was that the City insisted on that, so maybe reinstalling the gate was a violation. pure speculation. maybe the City thought it was a hazard to block in and block out vehicles from the premise? maybe they wanted LE to have easy access? I could easily understand that POV.

yeah, herd immunity is the only recourse. whether you clamp down hard now, or ease up on restrictions, it still comes down to herd immunity, given that a vaccine is minimally 6 months away.

If nobody was arrested and presumably, nothing seized, ISTR that it was a bunch of technical bullshit the city did in order to look busy. I mean, it isn't like they have much else to do.

It's always amusing to see people come up with the end-is-here rhetoric whenever things happen.

But we'll see.

Anyone thought about searching city records or just speculation?

Not saying this is the case here but could be part of it is where a lot of time things with gates and access come down to fire hazards of being able to access a building location with firetrucks in time to prevent spread to other buildings and land and such. Speed bumps need authorization to get applied on city streets as well as stop signs where I have seen fire departments try to block their implementation.

The difference this election cycle is the public health crisis. Most people most years don’t care about AMPs, but adding in the general fear of disease and heightened suspicion of China and the public sentiment could be swayed. Of course people are getting tired of stay at home and things are starting to open again which can serve to pull public opinion back to normal.
