Default Hotel that has rooms by the day (I.e. NOT overnight)?

I'm looking for a decent hotel for a full DAY of monkey bidness.

I'd like to be able to check in by 9/10am and out by evening, 8-9ish.

Mucho Thanks in advance for any help.

most hotels have a rate called a "day rate".........if you call the hotel/motel direct they usually will quote one. Not all have day rates but typically they run about 60-70% of the overnight rate. These are always based on availability. If the hotel is full or near full they won't generally take a day rate.

why not just use hotwire or priceline and pay 50 for all night?

Its not that simple.

To get the hours the OP desires, you would normally have to pay for 2 days.

Hercules,

This happens to me when I travel on business. I usually take the earliest flights out and often arrive a couple hours ahead of my first scheduled meeting. I head over to the hotel to check in. If they have availability, they will let you check in as early as as possible for the day. They only charge you for one day. To check out, simply leave your key in the room and call the front desk from the "road" and mention you're checking out. However, there are occasions when they don't have availability. Then you're stuck. Hope this helps.

duke99 is right, best way is just get the day rate. Any hotel will love to have the chance to sell a room twice in one day

priceline.com a room and check in early. Or if you have a property in mind, call them, make a reservation and request an early check in. They'll give you the "talk" that they cannot guarantee early check in but when you get there, it'll be fine.

Of the, literally, hundred's of times that I've done this only ONE TIME did I have to wait one hour to check in early. This was generally with three and four star hotels (once in DC, I checked into the Renaissance Mayflower at 8:30 AM and it wasn't a problem, either). It does seem as if the cheaper hotels have a stricter policy for early check-ins, for whatever odd reason.

I have checked in as early as 7:30 AM at one place and usually check in all of the times around 9 or 10 AM. I saved money by checking in early and checking out late, if I could.

Rarely have I checked out the next day. I would just leave after an appointment. Period. Never went back and didn't need to call.

It's very easy. If you want to go the cash way, leave a cash deposit and when you decide to leave in the early evening, just check out and they'll give you your deposit back.

Easy breezy.

Elisabeth

Not really. If he wants early morning, check in the night before. If he wants early afternoon, get a late check out, or check in early. Any other hours are pretty much covered in the regular stay.
