Talking Wine and Cheese for the Holidays!

Hello everyone! Monica here with a quick wine guide for the holidays.
Just a few quick picks that are a great first impression for a dynamite price.
I find my clients really enjoy a glass of wine as an ice breaker.
Most of these can be picked up at total wine.

Cueva de las Manos~ Malbec reserve~2009 reserve
smooth silky finish, outstanding, highly rated Argentina's signature grape
about 15.00

Dominican Oaks, Cabernet Napa~ California~2008
An excellent Napa value that over delivers with rich fruit flavors and toasty oak.
about 16.00

White Cottage~Cabernet Howell Mountain~2005
The volcanic soils and steep terrain of this unique micro climate produce grapes that showcase the distinctive characteristics that have made Howell mountain famous. My pick for Christmas.
About 40.00

Domaine Des Michelons Moulin A Vent~2009
Full bodied and fabulous,it's one of the finest villages of Beaujolais you don't want to miss this food friendly red.
about 16.00

Martin Ray Pinot Noir~Santa Barbera~2008
When award winning meets "sideways" famous Pinot Noir hot spot, you get a delicious deal brimming with cherry fruit and a creamy supple finish.
about 18.00

Depreville Brut~ France~ Sparkling
Dry, apple bodied, toasty and light bodied. Perfect for Mimosas
About 9.00

Veuve Clicquot NV~ Brut~France~Sparkling
Dry,citrus and spice. Very full bodied.
about 40.00

Budget conscious pick at Walmart or Cvs
I know....it was a on the fly pick up that was tasty for the price.
Oak Creek Cabernet Sauvignon ~2010
This complex little red reveals flavors of citrus and tree fruits with nuances of minerals, all showcased with a lengthy finish.
Power buy price 3.00 or three for ten at CVS.

Hope you enjoy! Warm hugs Monica St.James

Thank you for that info. It's much appreciated.

I'm a huge wine lover & I'm always searching for a decently priced bottle. You can definitely find some great deals at Walmart. They have a large selection too.

I serve wine and cheese with every local meeting...thanks for the list. We get most of ours at Martin Wine Cellar and Whole Foods, but Epicurious is great too.

There is a tasty wine called Mommy's Little Friend. It must be marketed to the stressed out MILF demographic.

No...it's really a wine JB. I was not being facetious. They make one called "Dirty Bastard" too. Look it up...it's a good wine.

There really are some weird and strange names for wines out in the marketplace. I suppose of one really looked, one could make quite a statement with them all lined up in a row.

Evie - there's a great shop in Clayton...Wine Merchant, I think. Very helpful staff and great selection from $ to $$$$ wines! Ever been there?

The B*tch is delicious Though, is it really a wine? It has a substantial amount of kirsch in it, which is a brandy. Brandy is delicious

I remember one night knocking that stuff back like it was *just* wine - luckily a lovely redhead knew well enough to put me to bed for the night once we started getting too deep into the third bottle, lol.

Wine and Women ...... My two greatest passions:

Along with some of my favorite quotes From W. C Fields:

"I was in love with a beautiful blonde once. She drove me to drink; that’s the one thing I’m indebted to her for."

"I cook with wine; sometimes I even add it to the food."

“What contemptible scoundrel stole the cork from my lunch?”

"During one of my treks through Afghanistan, we lost our corkscrew. We were compelled to live on food and water for several days."

And My personal thoughts....

"Too much of anything is bad, but too much Champagne is just right." ---Mark Twain
