I read the boards these days to add to my DNS list more than any other reason.
For the record. I don't discuss or negotiate anything ever. I won't write 5 paragraphs to explain ALL of the reasons why.
The general gist of the 106 posts in this thread is that veterans get it and newbies don't.
Malwoody hits it home again. Play on the field where you are comfortable playing. Don't try to join in a game already in play and change it.

I had never heard of such a thing...... a beating, all he wants is a beating? I broke out my whip and I wasn't going to use it, but per your request, I obliged.
I proceeded to beat the shit out of you until you started begging for mercy. I briefly considered sitting on your face to get you to shut up, you know where that ended up. As a happy man with a big smile and marks down his back, you told me you were a telepathist and needed to be on your way. I didn't know you had brought another man with you, but great selection, Benjamin is always welcome.
This dream is the very reason why, when asked what I am willing to pay, I say I have exactly what you need........ and I bring my whip.

Whew....
Part of that was cool....

I'm sure you have degrees; my joke was at what the degrees were for.
Which , you didnt mention....hmmm looks like I'll have to stop in and see you to find that out, eh? cause I might, if I knew what "BBBJTCNQNSGJTSO " meant?
See, I saw a "special" on CNN/news, about how this "poor girl was lied to" as she got herself ~$150K in debt by getting a college degree. The special went on and on about how this girl had to go to interview after interview, sent out lots of resumes and couldnt find a job "with a decent wage"(they never defined what a decent wage was)
Only near the end of the special was it revealed the the "college degree(which she has framed, with spotlights on her wall" was in fashion
I know the economy is tough, but to have a 30 min special about a fashion major not being able to get a job? and paying $150K in tuition for that job which is already hard to get?
I am actually jealous of you/providers. I'd do the same exact thing if I was a female......Im still upset that MOVIES LIED To me, (Deuce Bigalow).. .but that's why I'm in school still, even though I haz kollege degrees

I don't know if Sin's has gotten her degrees yet as I haven't spoken to her in a long time, but I can vouche that she wasn't going to school for "Art History" or "Fashion Design". I won't say what it is in because I believe it would be her choice to release that personal information, but you have no idea what you're talking about Blade.

My first degree was in one of those careers you do for love of the job, not for love of money cause it sure don't pay much LOL
In a previous life I was an addictions counselor and worked with parolees. The very definition of feel good, but thankless, and eventually leading to burnout type of job. Actually, the pay was good, but I could only take so much of feeling like I was beating my head against a wall before I finally raised a white flag of surrender.
I rarely mention what my associates degree is in. I will just say that given my chosen avocation it is highly ironic.
I have actually gone back to school again, and am studying to be a respiratory therapist. I figured if I am going to take your breath away, then courtesy demands that I know how to give it back. (I only chose this field of study so that I could use that line.)
Nope, no art history here. Though I am an armchair historian, art doesn't interest me much

When we run specials, we set the rate at a minimum we are comfortable with, so we are still in control of deciding what to charge. When someone haggles with you about a rate, that is the client trying to be in control of/and set the rate. Obviously a bit different.
Not trying to argue with you.

Sins, I have an incredible amount of respect for you. You explained something that I am not sure I would have went in depth about. If in your shoes, I would have said....... I did and still do whatever I want, and it doesn't matter if anyone agrees or likes or dislikes what I say or think or feel or do, if you don't like me that's fine, impossible to please everyone. I am always impressed with your presentation.

I don't, I won't, I read to add to my DNS list, don't try it, for the record...... your post seems to be one of someone pissed off.

For those reading a thread, if they have made it all the way to your post, stating a summary or gist...... I don't see the logic. Readers...... even the new ones......... can draw their own conclusions without veterans indirectly calling them stupid.

Willingness or lack thereof to negotiate is probably missing from the places providers advertise....... showcases, profiles, personal websites, signature lines, etc. Being rude to clients for asking a question...... it may work for some, but may also rub some clients the wrong way...... I guess it depends on the goal one is trying to accomplish.

IMHO, providers set their own rules and can join in and play however they want to and clients will join in and play however they want to as well, regardless if they have someone like you or me telling them what to do.

Do you find any of my points valid? I am not trying to be rude, like yourself, just making an observation.

Lmao that is the first time I heard that. But it's nothing like the real deal you know. If you beat it to much it might fall off or get raw.
