Let the trade war games that we will lose with China officially commence. Hard to successfully play bully ball with an adversary when they are not scared of you.

I guess no more Amazon orders for me for a while. I'll have to find somewhere else to buy my creatine gummies. Haha

China on Friday struck back at President Trump's ballooning tariffs, raising its duties on imports of US goods to 125% from 84%.

The countermeasures will come into effect Saturday, further intensifying a US-China trade war that has roiled US stocks. The trade conflict has weighed on investor sentiment, even as Trump instituted a 90-day pause on steep Liberation Day tariffs and the EU matched a US pause on retaliatory duties.

Xi, in a sense, does have the upper hand. Keep in mind, he is President of a brutal Communist Regime that can withstand a trade war because his people do not have a choice,. They can be compelled to sacrifice all in the name of the Great Mao Revolution or simply die.

Xi is “President for Life”, or something along those lines. He knows he cannot win a Trade War with the US. To what extent is he willing to go?

Perhaps it is time that some one in China has an “election”.

- the arrogant Trump
putting a 50% increase on China, then says he is waiting for their call

- the haphazard Trump
now removing tariffs on electronics, including those from China

Default if there's anyone who should like Trump's tariffs..

it's this woman who owns a fully made-in-America line of high end clothes.

so, does she? umm, well, not exactly..

more haphazard tariff policy:

The White House unveiled the tariff exemptions on Friday, covering 20 categories, including computers and laptops, as well as semiconductor devices memory chips and flat panel displays.

But the relief may be short-lived, as U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday pledged fresh tariffs on imported semiconductors within days.

Default guess your tariff

Some tariffs paused 90 days.

Auto industry may receive special tariff treatment.
Nvida H20 chip now requires license to export.
China tariffs could go to 245 % per White House paper

It's the daily tariff news. Trump should just use a whirling arrow on top of one of his
caps and spin it to come up with the tariff of the day.

Endless uncertainty now.

It did not have to be this way.

It doesn't bother me, as I have no business connected with tariffs. But it has and will affect many people and businesses negatively. Sellers on Amazon, car buyers, etc.etc. It did not have to be this way. Especially if Trump had organized a better plan, not shock and awe for over 100 countries

The outcomes seem to be:

- tariffs bring in a lot of income, manufacturing jobs increase, and China gives in
Trump ends up on Mt. Rushmore

- economy declines significantly, tariffs prove to do nothing
mid terms are a calamity for the Republicans and Trump ends up a sad lame duck for his last 2 years

And the most obvious one that your TDS obscures.

Trump comes to terms with the countries that want to do business with the holder of 40% of world commerce. Tariffs become reciprocal including China. Manufacturing begins to return to the US. Jobs increase, wages increase, the country becomes more secure, and the average person thrives instead of the rich who rely on the fruits of the market. Trump may need his own mountain.

Trade Deficit Syndrome? Another brilliant diagnosis, doc! LOL! Didn't you demand to see someone's psych degree in a different thread? Maybe someone else, I just can't keep up with all the vitriol anymore.

You know, maybe people would take your posts seriously if you ratchet back the insults. Maybe not. It is possible to disagree with Trump (and you) without being labeled something.

I believe as the worlds biggest (allegedly) economy, we shouldn't be bullying our customers. We should be encouraging them to follow our lead and make it easier to do business with us.

I haven't seen a single business model that uses bullying as a pathway to success. Have you?

The on again off again threats, the insults, the name calling (from Trump and his faithful) have plunged the markets into chaos. Not entirely because of the prices, but also because of the uncertainty and volatility of dealing with Twump.

It's called "follow the leader" for a reason. We're not leading; merely shitting on those trying to follow us.

Sure you have. It’s called extortion.

ex·tor·tion
noun
the practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats.
"he used bribery and extortion to build himself a huge, art-stuffed mansion"
