Probably not... he is a fictional character

But I bet he would have, had we legalized it like we did booze after prohibition.

The industry in California is struggling even afte legalization. That is the reality of too high a tax rate. You incentivize black market transactions that pay nothing

Damn WTF, I'm proud of you. You're starting to come around. You have started your climb back from "2% Libertarian" status. You've still got a ways to go before you get back to three-quarters Libertarian though.

I'm not the one having trouble with this concept!

The problem you have when the rate is too low is that you can not fund government.

Look at it like this:

Both Partys have wants. Ok

Both Partys want to cut spending of the others pet projects. Defense and Entitlement. Unrealistic.

One side wants to continually reduce taxes. Huge debt.

The other side wants to continually raise taxes. Huge debt.

None of those solutions will work independent of each other.

Hasn't the last 40 years taught us at least that?

You seem to mistake my observations as want.

Default Is America About to Experience the "Bullwhip Effect?" (Inflation Debate)

.

I have long held that mean reversion is possibly the most powerful force in economics and finance.

Someone just sent me this earlier this afternoon. The author makes the same inflation case I have been making, although in much greater detail and much more creative and colorful fashion with all the metaphors.

Just adding my bullshit.

Labor quote:

“A lot of people maybe don’t understand and say, ‘The truckers just don’t want to get the containers out,’ but it’s not that easy,” Antonio Cortez said. “There’s a limit to what I can do … because I [only] have so many trucks, so much equipment, so much land,” he said.

“That must make you crazy,” Ryssdal said.

Yeah, it does,” Cortez responded.
Two week old report, but still a little relevant. The ocean was being used as a free warehouse. May still be for some carriers.

“There’s a limit to what I can do,” says owner of trucking company at center of shipping logjam

Quote:
That could impact consumer prices downstream

Steamship lines typically give carriers five days to return empty containers. After that, they’re charged a per diem fee until the container is returned.

A&F said it has received stacks of invoices for per diem charges on containers it physically can’t return due to a lack of appointments. Those charges increase freight costs for A&F’s customers, which, ultimately, could impact the prices consumers pay.

“We have to contact the customers and say, ‘Hey, you need to help us out with either trying to dispute it or agree to paying the charges,’” Pamela Cortez said.

On the import side, there’s another set of charges called demurrage fees for containers that aren’t picked up fast enough.

Yes. I don't do play by play. I can't add any color to your performance art if you keep dropping the ball.
