She would have a right to screen him before answering the question, or before making a booking. It's not common sense to push on trying to verify the identity of someone you have already answered the question of and aren't going to have to have any further contact with unless they try to book later...in which case you screen them then. Also, I specifically said UNLESS he's flat out lying. If he is, none of this holds up. But people have mostly been arguing as if he's telling the truth but still wrong.
It's roughly equivalent to someone walking into a store, asking if they have any Jack Daniels, hearing "No" and starting to walk out, only THEN to be asked for ID. If you don't want to answer a question without checking ID, fine, but this isn't that situation, the question was already answered.
Edit: Note that I still place Satoshi more at fault than the provider just for overreacting. Her mistake was a short-lived thing that wasn't a big deal. He's turning it into a crusade. I'm just arguing that the reasons people are giving for why he's wrong don't make sense.
