Throw mud back and forth at the RWWs all you want, but when you use your military service time to claim you have "valor" all it does is make you look even more pathetic. Valor is not accrued just because the minute hand moves or the calendar page turns. It is earned.

The people who showed the most actual valor in war are the ones who usually talk about it the least. My father had a purple heart and silver star that none of his kids knew about until we emptied his dresser after he died.

I had the privilege to spend time with the code talkers, and all they talked about was how it had been their duty and privilege to serve, even though their comrades had orders to kill them if they were overrun by the Japanese. Not boasting words about how great they were for serving.

I know people who are a couple of the stars on the wall.

Even if you have a DD214 that is actually yours, not a copy from someone else, waving it in the air just says you were in the military. Not everyone who serves their time does so with valor.
Good post.

On point ... regarding those claiming to be VN "vets" ...

http://www.nationalvietnamveteransfo...statistics.htm

"During this Census (2000) count, the number of Americans falsely claiming to have served in-country is: 13,853,027. By this census, FOUR OUT OF FIVE WHO CLAIM TO BE Vietnam vets are not."

That is a great experience and thank you very much for your service.
