I don't care how much you flirt with me Chachi, I'm still not going to firstbase with you.

Of course I would never ban you. This board could not function without a our resident prophet, Mr Chachi Dearhunter. Talk about poor qualities of a mod. . .now points just to remind you that you ain't Fonzie. . .that I would probably do from time to time.

So how many points can you accrue before you get banned anyway?

To sort keep us on topic, what do you folks think of point usage as effective moderation? In general terms (please don't name names or actual situations--no need to piss anyone off) what are good examples or bad examples of mod usage of the points?

I thinck I am at the point where they have to give me points in percentages just to keep me around...........1/10 of a point to dearhunter for calling XXXX a manpussy (even though the Mod knows he is a manpussy)..........we are not allowed to state the obvious......maybe when you become a mod you can give me "get out of Jail" card to make my points go away.

What and cheapen the amazing feats you did to earn them?

Now that would be an example of poor moderation.

Hey, did these guys use to yell out:

"Ride moderators, ride!" when they were about to dole out some justice?

Ohhhhh. . .wait a minute, I think that was "Ride, regulators ride!"

How about a poll for a name change????? From here forward we call them regulators, not moderators. . .they could all have cool avatars with hats or gunbelts.

Well since I was misquoted at the begining of this thread let me clear somehings up...I ONLY posted that in my opinion none of those guys who were called pompous aholes actually are and I can say that because I met several of them!! Has NOTHING to do w who should be mod or who I voted for!! I'm not some twit who only posts to hear herself
type...I've been around long enough that I'm not going to pick a mod cuz he's my "buddy" as a matte of fact..not that it's anyone business but I voted for a person to be mod Whom I've NEVER MET!!! Look at it from a providers pov for a sec...
Here in Arkansas for instance when we are having a meet and greet in order to get an invite 2 reputable providers have to verify a gent.. And vice versa w the ladies.. So at least there is a trust factor there... Now, to have a mod NO REPUTABLE providers have ever met. From any area!! I mean I see that as a problem!!! Of couse I know nothing about nothing but being a good provider... Just give that some thought... and think about if it was your ass on the line..you'd want someone you KNOW hobbys right!?
Srry if this rambles a bit..hard to see what I've written already (stupid iPhone is all I have w me)

Joanie,

When you become a mod make sure to give Big Jake points. He likes to dip them in salsa and feed them to CPI.38.

I think anyone that wants to be a moderator deserves kudos for devoting their time to helping us have fun instead of being a bland ad site. In San Antonio, Mokoa helped me several times with tech and other issues before he became a mod. More like him is a good thing.

In terms of points, I don't worry about them because I type so slow I probably will never get in trouble.

Very good point, Oden.

Pyramider, I doubt Big Jake would would find himself in a situation to be pointed--he is one of the more sane and sage voices on this board.

You were not misquoted. You were excerpted. You just disagree with my take on that whole regrettable thread, the event it was based on, and the impact it has had far beyond Arkansas. Thankfully the thread was sinking slowly to the bottom of the ECCIE Sea, until you brought it back up.

She posted less than 3 hours after you did, I doubt it sank that much.

I can't believe that I read all 6 pages of this, and since I did I'm going to get my 2 cents worth and chime in.

I think each board should have at least 1 local and 1 non-local mod. The number would depend on the need of the board. The local mod(s) would understand the local landscape and the non-local mod(s) shouldn't (to a certain extent) give a flying rat's ass who the people are.

I think people in general make too big of a deal about the moderators. If they are guys, then is it reasonable to expect them NOT to participate in the hobby? And if they are ladies, is it reasonable to expect them NOT to provide? People are people, and we are going to have our natural biases. As a mod, you should be able to ignore them and be fair. And that is when having multiple mods can really be beneficial. If one mod gets a little off center, the other mods can bring him/her back to the middle.

The members need to recognize and remember that the mods do this for basically nothing. I'm sure there are all kinds of assumptions about the mods (they get paid for their time, they get freebies or reduced rates from providers, etc), and I would be willing to bet they are all wrong.

So back to the original point (I think) of the thread. To me it's quite basic:
1) Be fair
2) Be open minded
3) Be willing to moderate
4) Be able to moderate

Should the goats feel more comfy with Anonononone's endorsement of Big Jake, and the voices in his head?

I am trying to tune out those voices. They have stopped shouting now and faded to faint whispers. I can't quite make them out. . .here, listen, maybe you can make sense of them, Pyramider:

"wayward. . .ice cream. . .cake to eat. . .little. . .love and dreams. . ."

What does it mean? Oh, the humanity!

Ahhh, Chachi, you care!

So do either you or your acolyte, Pyramider have any more wisdom that actually has to do with qualities of a mod, or are you just bored and not even watching the All Star game?
