@SNL -- Just because others engage in illegal conduct, does that make it OK or right for you to do so?

When I was a kid and used the "well, Johnny gets to do it" argument my parents always said just because Johnny does it, doesn't mean it was right. After years of being on the receiving end of that philosophy, I believe it. All that matters is whether or not I can face myself in the mirror. I try to be honest and just in my life...it is a lifetime goal.

There's a very simple solution if what she's trying to do is save the money and not need immediate access to it. IMO everyone should do it to some extent. What you do is get between five and ten golden eagles or golden maples. Put them in a zip lock bag and seal the bag in a short length of PVC pipe. The PVC pipe can be glued water tight at both ends very easily. You can even glue a screw on cap if you want to be able to open and close it without having to cut it open. Keeping the coins this way keeps them nice and shiny. Once you have it nice and sealed get a fence post digger and dig down about 3 feet(very easy with a fence pole digger where there are no rocks). Put the capsule in the hole and bury it up. You now have a stash that will always have value no matter what happens in the economy. The best place to bury your stash is in a place you know there will not be construction like state parks or about 100 yards off of the highway in-between cities. You might loose a little money as the price of gold can change (got most of my mapels back when they were $600 a pop woo hoo!) but there is no chance of loosing all the money like there is with cash. Gold will always have value. You would be amazed how great you will feel knowing you have a few stash spots around that you have unlimited access to. Safety deposit boxes and mattresses filled with cash is a very bad idea. Someone stated that it is illegal to put cash and gold in a safety deposit box and they are exactly right. Not only that but you don't have unrestricted access to it. Cash anywhere in your house is not safe. Your cash could burn with your house or your house could be raided by criminals or the government.

And I can give you a GPS location of where to bury it. lol

Sorry, I know I'm hijacking but I'm a little surprised.
Your income is technically legal - you are selling time. Regardless, the IRS doesn't really care. They just want their money. Hell "social escort" even falls under the "all other personal services" tax code (which also includes baby shoe bronzing and a lot of other amusing professions). I wouldn't list my occupation as hooker or anything :P. Model is a fine occupation to list. A business license and an EIN to pay estimated taxes are probably a decent idea too. I think you don't have to file taxes on income under $2500 a year, or at least that's what I was told at work when I made minimum wage at age 19. I haven't worked a "straight" job since then (school/traveling) so I'm not even sure that's right.

I don't understand how some women (who do this as a career with no other income) plan on buying a home or doing anything that involves credit/income checks in the future. God forbid you ever need a loan, or to finance a vehicle. Buying a car in cash isn't shady but a home? I'd be surprised if the realtor you bought the home from didn't tip off the IRS, as they have to pay taxes on their commission.

Plus it makes you look like a f'ing drug dealer.

It's also fairly ironic that someone that is in a trade that their government deems illegal wants to repay that government back in full. Not judging you, just confused.
I drive on the road and use other public services. I'm still a human being and a citizen first. I also wish to buy a home someday. Last time I checked, verifiable income is a good thing when it comes to asking for a mortgage

I realise not all cash businesses report every dollar, but the ones who pay nothing? The ones who pay significantly less than they should? Trifling.

I apologize to everyone if my rant earlier had a hard edge, but it’s from experience that I speak. I travel around the world putting out oil well fires and drilling oil wells. I am an adrenaline junky and that is my passion. I also own and operate several other businesses in California and in Louisiana. I have worked hard to get what I have and I came close to losing it all due to the actions of my ex. She never had to work, but chose to open up a medical clinic. I was busy working and letting her do her own thing. When I discovered the nature of her business, and all that was going on as well as her relationship with the father of 2 of her four children (2 other children with 2 other men), things became unbearable and she moved out on Christmas Eve several years ago. You see, her medical clinic was a pain management clinic which prescribed vicodin, soma and xanax as well as syrup. There were a lot of people who had bad colds and back pain. Usually between 60 and 100 a day, all paying cash. I never knew this as I was busy working. She never seemed to have money and I paid all the bills. After the divorce I discovered the extent of her enterprise through documents she left behind in her haste to pack up and leave. We only filed a joint return for one year She never deposited nor reported a significant amount of the income as I later found out when the IRS came knocking on my door. The IRS went through me with a fine tooth comb. I had to prove the source and amount of every asset, all income and all deductions. I also had to pay the estimated balance that was calculated that she owed from her business. She ended up marrying the father of her youngest two kids in an effort to keep him in the states. He had gotten out of prison (aggravated sexual assault of a female age 13 and failure to register as a sex offender) and was in the custody of ICE. Well, he got deported as he should have As it turns out, she was funneling the proceeds of her business to Mexico from what I was told and hasn’t filed a return for several years now. And she is even drawing Medicaid for her and the kids because her illegal husband was deported. It’s a great land we live in isn’t it? Now she works as a touring provider, continues to not file nor pay her taxes and continues to take all her cash to her Mexican hideout.

So please sweetheart, report your income and don't treat your hubby that way. He might be a lot of things, but he doesn't deserve what is or what may happen.
