Lazy writing?
I respectfully disagree. Half the show was about him going out. We've never seen a character die with that kind of internal struggle.
The introspection was tough to watch but well acted. The references to the radio and how Tyrese got his humanity from his father. Bob and the girls telling him it's OK to let go and the Governor telling him he didn't live up to his word and deserved to die. Tyrese struggling with all that going through his head while he is bleeding out. I would have like to see Tyrese's father as a part of that group, maybe telling him he needed to find the strength to keep going for Sasha, for Judith and for the rest of the group. It would have been tough to write him into the scenes without a lot more backstory though. I thought it was one of the better, deeper episodes.

And the (critics) reviews would agree with that assessment.
I think some of the posters are missing the point of this last Sunday's episode. This was simply the continuation of a mid-season break. Not intended to be an "end-of-season" (explosive) cliff hanger....the fact the writers were willing to kill off key characters in back-to-back episodes was shocking enough.
Nonetheless, TWD rebooted with a very solid 15.6 million viewers Sunday evening (staggering for a cable network). Not sure what the Grammys (network tv) final tally was (but) I did see their numbers were down (again) for the sixth straight year.
And the BB spinoff, "Better Call Saul" set a new record for a debut (cable) program with 6.9 million Sunday eve. Not sure what Monday's second episode drew but you gotta figure AMC / the producers have to be ecstatic.

Michonne will be the driving force now to get to DC instead of that "Tennessee Tophat" Eugene. She wants a Woodbury. But not like what the Governor had. I think she is starting to regret the way she shunned it at first because even with the corruption it was still liveable.
About Tyrese... Y'all should have known Tyrese wouldn't make it. He was too kind. Good people with wholesome spirits don't survive. I thought the dialogue surrounding the way he went was more poignant than boring though. I'm still waiting to watch talking dead. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I'm gonna watch the reg episode again before I do though. Hopefully tomorrow.
That talk about his dad reminded me of my dad. I'm still a news junkie to this day because of all the news radio I listened to growing up (and on the weekends it was NPR: Car Talk and Garrison Keller... talk about fun lol.) Anyway I guess what I'm saying is that most people can identify with someone like Tyrese which is why most people would die. And so did he. It's fucked up but what do you expect.
They have been saying this second half of the season is gonna be pretty dark. From the looks of it so far they weren't bullshitting.

I just have to say...this was THE episode that illustrated the uniqueness of "loss" and all the emotions surrounding what it feels like to really feel truly intense loss.
I identified with more characters tonight than I ever had before: anger, despair, hope, pain, promise, delusion, apathy, offensive indifference. Just incredible writing. Incredible.

Yesterday was just another boring waste of an episode to me...except for when Sasha stood up and killed those dogs out of nowhere so they could have some food.
Plus, the clean shaven "friend" that shows up out of the blue knowing who Rick was...then the Music Box starts playing, awesome!!!
Next week, should be good though

There was quite a bit of symbolism last night what with Gabriel burning his cloth and finally helping out in the barn rather than turning away scared.
Glen and Maggie have a tension that I don't quite understand yet. Something is building there. I think Glen liked Maggie's strength and grew to depend on it. Now that she appears to be losing strength that relationship doesn't feel nearly as strong. She was uncharacteristically hard on Gabriel but he needed to hear what she had to tell him about turning his back on his flock. It appears that hit home.
Sasha got some of her anger out. She will be in transition now. Who she turns out to be now that she is alone will be a story line going forward....or they kill her off. Who the fuck knows?
How about Darryl's melt down? I've been waiting for that but not necessarily expecting it. Carol new he needed it and told him it's OK. No other character could have done that.
And the "We are the walking dead" discussion in the barn. Darryl was not on the same page as Rick on that one.
I'm baffled by Aaron's appearance at the end . He looks like he stepped out of an LL Bean catalog, recent haircut and shave and knows the group and Rick by name...WTF? Who have they crossed paths with that would give him that information, Morgan possibly? He knew Rick might be heading to DC because of what was written on the map.

It seems as if the Ricktatorship is over but why was everyone so quick to trust?

I mean Woodbury seemed like a safe haven, and so did Terminus. We see what happened there with the Governor and the Termites. Surely Peter Brady's (Aaron) Land's End look and delightful yet matter of fact demeanor didn't knock everyone else but Rick off guard. Or are they just tired and willing to depend on anything after all the time they've been without food and a shelter? So many questions. I'd like to hear more about Eugene and his story.

I do not trust the new place! Looks too good to be true. The sound of children playing when they were all outside gate.... it opened up... did not see any children... ???

There were no people in all the pictures that he showed them also. I am going to be so pissed if Darryl, Mishonne, or Glenn get killed!
