There have been 45 men who have been POTUS. I could not tell you the plusses and minuses in detail of any one of them. But there are people who have spent a lifetime understanding those details. C-SPAN does the most comprehensive study of past presidents with well over 100 participants, ranking each person on 10 different characteristics.

They rank Carter 26th and Trump 41st. Before you shout "Bias!!". 4 of the top 10 ranked presidents were Republican and 4 Democratic. If you eliminate Trump, the bottom 3 were Democrats.
I may not agree with the exact rankings but I cede to those who are more astute in this area than me.
