I believe it's a prerequisite for admission to "Diamonds & Tuxedos" to understand & accept that as fact!

You may often encounter individuals who become passionate or emotional when expressing one's opinion or point of view. That's all understood and perfectly acceptable within reason…….but, start slamming or bashing another member and be met with consequences.

  • #3 - Disrespect to others, IN GENERAL, will be considered an item of low tolerance, especially when posting in our coed forums. Follow the Golden Rule and treat others as you wish to be treated yourself. This applies to fellow members as well as staff. We do not require that you have respect for us, but we do require that you treat us respectfully in the public forums. If you feel the need to vent, gripe, or blow off some steam regarding a staff member's action or decision, we ask that you keep it private. Email, RTM, or the PM system would be the appropriate avenue to take in such cases. In cases where you would like to request additional clarity about a staff decision, you are free to pursue an answer in either a public forum or private means of communication. If handled publicly, post your inquiry in a respectful manner.

  • #4 - Blatant insults or hostility toward another member will be met with staff intervention. This applies to using our coed forums for name calling, personal attacks, or vulgar slang terms to describe fellow members. If you have legitimate concerns about another member here, share them tactfully in the appropriate private forums or with staff.
  • #6 - Respect the topics presented by those who start a thread. Attempts to derail a thread or change it's direction is referred to as thread hijack and will be discouraged. Attempts to guide a thread in the right direction are appreciated, while responses to posts which hijack a thread are not.
. . .just guessing, but if new mods simply read the guidelines and enforced them without bias or mitigation you might find yourself taking a few short vacations.
You make me so proud! Seems like only yesterday I suggested you read the rules...
http://www.eccie.net/showpost.php?p=...&postcount=217

....and today, you've committed them to memory. Any further proof needed that ANONONE should be the next mod. May I second my own nomination?

If "Qualities of a Mod?"is the question, ANONONE is the answer! If only I had a vote!

No seriously. . .

If you think about it, many folks have said they want unbiased mods that enforce the board rules consistently. Now some of us yank each other's chain with terms of endearment like Ansley describes, or as Texas Gator (who in the heck do you cheer for when Texas plays Florida?) so skillfully demonstrated.

Then on the other hand we all often moan and complain that mods don't take the time to get to know personalities and see the inside jokes and towel snapping as just good-natured fun.

In essence we are asking quite a bit of a mod when it comes to interpreting the rules and applying them in a uniform manner. Are they supposed to flip a coin to decide your intention when you make innuendos and backhanded insults as to what your tone and intention might have been?

PS: Gator, I became intimately aware of those board rules when I got pointed last week. didn't really have much to do with that swamp wisdom you call advice.

. . .See what I mean?

WTF will be the second to admit he is an asshole...........only because I beat him to it.

We all know that heavy moderation perverts the process...........they lead to chihuahua sightings.

I understand that each city has their own unique flavor.......an outside mod would be seen as an intruder.

Hobbyists who over extent themselves lead to other measures...............don't they, Joanie?

Another important advantage would be that most of the members in my area I have met. I know them. There are some things about the personalities of people that you just cannot ascertain from posts alone. That additional information helps me when I have to sort out fact from fiction when dealing with conflicts that come up. I believe that not knowing this kind of information would put me at a significant disadvantage.

Mokoa makes a very valid point. Including some locals on staff provides a perception and understanding is invaluable in the decision making process. Whether it be understanding someones fire hazard dry sense of humor, their agendas, or knowing a trusted local who can fast track someone for provider status is of great value.

It is the team that makes it work. When the communication and the cooperation of that team fails is when the staff is ineffective. At least Eccie has active ownership who can make final decisions on the tougher issues; something ASPD lacked the 2nd half of its life.

If we were really taking a poll, I'd vote for CPI because in my opinion, he was one of the best we had on ASPD.

I vote for Mokoa's method of Mod'ding. Straight, to-the-point, and unbiased. Now if we could get some politicians like that.

I think it's turned into a term of endearment around here, like 'Hey asshole, let me buy you a beer'.

Hmm! There's an idea. I LOVE those polls - so informative & enlightening. No offense to ANONONE intended, but a poll asking if he should be a mod pales in comparison to those from Houston's past.

Who can forget "What kind of floors do you prefer at the incall?" Or "what color do you think of when doing the deed?" polls. Gosh, I miss them so.

Sure do. I only hope the voting populus are half as as attuned with the daily internal struggles a mod must endure. I'm assembling the campaign team as we speak, Mr. Candidate.

And don't be so modest about only recently becoming familiar with the rules when you got points. We all know you've been quoting them as far back as .... well, just days after you got a li'l bit of - what did you call it? Oh yeah, "swamp wisdom" - I have got to remember that one. Thanks.

http://www.eccie.net/showpost.php?p=188631&postcount=4

Now, there's the kind of humility our political system has been lacking.

ANONONE FOR MOD!

P.S. The Longhorns and Gators have not faced one another on the gridiron since 1940 - that's even before WTF's day- so question never presented. But, there would be nothing to decide. I (now) reside in Texas, but I bleed Orange and Blue!

You quit fuckin' with my candidate, dh! (Wait til he's elected, damn it!)

Besides, in our next campaign propaganda, we are going to release your endorsement of his candidacy. You don't remember?

I for one thinck the ban button should only be used for issues that reach critical mass..............the day that any of our opinions reach that level, they need to make Joanie a Mod and ban Houston from the hobby.
