Couple quickies again.....

1st...... They are on the service end of this business arrangement.... They post their physical statistics, and therefore inherently their physical appearance is in play. And if we are splitting hairs lets not forget you and a few others trying to drop race Bombs as apt comparisons to the current precieved slams.

2nd...... While Wakeup does not review in the conventional sense, he has put reviews of sorts in areas accessable to only male PA members..... He has also passed along valuable information (on the good side) there as well..... Now, the negative aspects may vastly outweigh the positive.... But lets not broad brush it as all bad...... And if you're going to lump in a guy as useless because he has no reviews, are we to assume Dear_John is equally as useless? Or does he get a pass because he is globally "civil"? And for the record.... Wakeup thinks Jemma is Hot, and he has no problem speaking his mind on her service and other things..... If anything he is an equal opportunity asshole.....

3rd ...... In regards to BPs much earlier post..... The whole ThreAD/thread thing, while you may personally find it offensive that hobbyist call them that, it is a fact of how the board runs. There was a time not too long ago before these posts were called out as ThreADs that CoED and the Sandbox were mere extensions of the 2 AD forum sections..... Again, as stated by one of the OWNERS "ThreADs are ok..... And hobbyists may express their thoughts on a thread being a threAD in a polite manner".... So whether you personally feel it is uncivil to call them ThreADs, the owner does not..

The core issue is who's brand of "Civility" and "Decency" do we employ and enforce? And to what extent do we enforce it? As said before, the tight fisted regimes rarely last and push away more members and postings, where as the looser ones allow otherwise "deplorable" behavior to run rampant..... Yet another in the long line of grey areas that we do our best to manage..... How do you promote free speech and honesty, while quelling precieved "uncivility"? And how can you possibly prevent people from being offended personally at every turn in the process? All we (The Mods) have is the guidelines set forth by ownership. The ambiguity inherent within them ties our hands to a certain extent.

I have said my peace, and am putting my big girl panties back on. There is obviosly nothing gonna change on eccie so we should just get us e to being belittled. I honestly feel like joining them, and I have a evil tongue when I get started I don't give a fuck. They couldn't handle it though. So thanks BP for trying to bring the bs into the light, I agree with you completely. But it takes to much energy and really as long as the business keeps coming, I don't really care! It is a nice thought to think Eccie could be about the issue at hand, Hobbying,and Providing period. I'm her for a business aspect, and have pretty much ignored the bullies, so its not my fight!

Agreed that their physical appearance is a legitimate topic of discussion. But there's no need to be abusive about how it's discussed. And I stand by my statement about slurs - either all of them are OK, or none of them are. It's absurd to pick and choose which names are OK to call. How about no name calling at all?

I agree that Wakeup does occasionally pass along a valuable bit of information, which is why I've given the guy the benefit of the doubt for years. But lately the vitriol level has increased to the point where it's very hard to ignore.

IMO DJ contributes more positive than negative. He certainly doesn't drive away providers. And I think you need to review Wakeup's postings before you call him equal opportunity. An occasional barb goes to Jemma and others that he consideres to be HWP, but his attacks on heavier providers are seemingly nonstop.

To me, the whole "threAD" thing is just a symptom of the open disdain a group of noisy posters holds for certain providers. In and of itself it's fairly harmless.

Ambiguity is exactly when judgement comes into play. The guidelines here are broad enough where you'd be justified in taking action against those who seemingly can't control their offensive, assholish behavior.

And I don't think you'd drive many away. I'd bet there's a core group of less than 20 members who are responsible for most of the slurs and abusive posts that happen.

True, DJ is the postive Ying (although much less vocal) to Wakeups Yang (no pun intended)..... That was kind've my complete opposite point of it all if you will..... Yeah, Judgement can be a dangerous thing is kind've my point too..... We have to use judgement quite often here actually..... But I guess for me, I try to make less decisions based on my judgement then by the letter of the guideline..... Perhaps to a fault.....

I guess it's no secret that Blow Pop and I think alike, but it's nothing I'm ashamed of.

The thing is, I actually like the wakeup I've met at socials. I think he's a stand up guy, loyal and patriotic to his country, and a very intelligent man. He has a lot of leadership ability and I'm pretty sure he's a guy other guys would like to hang out with. It just saddens me how he acts on this site. He doesn't need to act like that, and he has nothing to gain. I just can't figure out how an intelligent man can morph into a jerk just because he's posting on this site.

In keeping in the context with this thread, I think I'll break off into a tangent that is on topic.

I thought the spider hole was for those who play on the edge. From what I think the spider hole is akin to the website ymwv.net. It can be tough on that site, and it's an acquired taste to know the in's and out's of it. There are very few posters on that site any more and I can't help but think if they're trying to post over here using the same 'over the edge' postings. I don't mind the ymwv type of postings, but it belongs over on that site, not on this one. IMHO if they want to get in the spider hole and post their stuff, and it stays there, I don't have any problems unless lines are crossed.

There was a day, years ago, when guys like Paladin were considered white knights, now guys like myself and Blow Pop are considered white knights. The reason we're considered white knights is because we happen to be polite and don't get our kicks putting down ladies because they aren't built or look like Bo Derek. I will also bet that most of the guys who are having sessions aren't being mistaken for Brad Pitt either. If I were some hot and studly dude, I wouldn't have been posting on hobby boards since 1999.
