Well growing up in East Texas.... While I did come from a family with very traditional ideals (men work and women belong at home) my parents believed in us (3 children of which I'm the youngest at 31) having a mind and voice of our own. They didn't believe we should be seen and not heard. They encouraged us to speak up and have ideas and beliefs of our own even if that didn't align with theirs.

One thing my mother always did was build us up.. she complimented....and praised us beyond belief...shes always and still is such a positive influence and alot of why I am who I am today. She helped create confidence and self love within myself....

No one can take that away from me....I will not allow it.

I find it extremely important to be myself in the hobby...it really makes my job so much easier...and in turn the experiences overall are amazing.

The ladies and men shy away from here for alot of different reasons...here are a few that crossed my mind this morning...

1. Some providers/Hobbyist just don't have the time to commit to these discussions. They have rw jobs, families and sometimes a SO/boyfriend/girlfriend

2. Some are completely unaware the discussion boards even exist.

3. Some don't know how to even navigate the website. (I met with a guy recently who told me it took him so long to reply to me because he didn't even know how to send a PM).

The internet is changing how we all interact and communicate with each other imo. We're having less and less real genuine experiences with each other because somehow society has made people believe you can be anyone you want to be online. While this is partially true..you also need to think how those interactions online affect you as a person when you meet people and any potential business.

Everything I write here is a reflection of my personality and character.....so I'm very careful that I portray myself in the truest form possible....and as positive and honest as I can be. I never know who is truly reading what here.

Does everyone like me? Of course not... But that's ok with me...I'm not losing time, money or sleep over it. In fact it just gives me motivation to be even better.

I too wish more ladies and guys would participate here... Honestly I think we would be even closer as a community if that were the case. Girls would see more alerts in infoshare... Therefore not allowing bad people to continue to do bad things to our lovely members here.

I appreciate that you enjoy reading my posts.... That means they are serving there purpose here which makes me one happy girl

Anyways.... That was alot of typing....hope some of that made sense.

It did. I would agree with most of those reasons. And I would add that today, we have many more choices for online client/provider interaction. Even in the 'ASPD days' that many of us enjoyed and were part of, other sites and private boards were beginning to sprout. Add to that providers using Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Kix, etc. and it dilutes the community interaction in any one place.

I've tried most of them and find that ECCIE is still the best overall community. Every place has it's weaknesses but I keep finding this place meets my needs best. I really do enjoy it. Perhaps others feel the same.

It's been said before that it's really an exchange of information for business purposes amongst us ladies. Majority of us ladies don't use the powder room for gossip and bashing.
