I realize that the younger “woke” generation probably doesn’t think much beyond “racism bad” (and similarly for xenophobia, homophobia sexism etc). But WHY are they bad? It’s precisely because they all involve doing exactly what you did — denigrating whole groups of people en masse without any personal experience with them.

There's no irony becase Yinzer isn't a race. No one is born an ignorant black and yellow Six Rings Chipped Ham Sammich Sleaveless T-shirt sporting Neanderthal. Its something that is learned. And its also something that can be unlearned. Not just Boomers and Xers but Millenials and Zoomers (here) are racist as fuck compared to other cities. Racism is bad because it hurts people. It literally kills people. Pittsburgh is one of the worst cities in the country as far as racism is concerned, especially towards black people. But don't take my word for it. Pitt/UPMC released a study on how "bad" and deadly racism is in Pittsburgh last year compared to the rest of the country.
But we're getting off course here. This isn't about racism. This is about how shitty people are from Pittsburgh. The other cities mentioned don't have the problem that Pittsburgh has because those cities are not filled with Yinzers.

Right. Almost 20 years here. But it’s everyone else that’s an asshole right? Or possibly the problem is you?

Of course you missed the point. With the way people are indoctrinated rather than educated, I’m not surprised. Characterizations of whole groups of people are bad. It’s irrelevant whether that group is based on race, gender, religious belief, or any other characteristic. Sweeping negative generalizations about whole groups of people are problematic.
Are there assholes living in Pittsburgh? Certainly. Is EVERYONE living in Pittsburgh a xenophobic racist? Of course not. There are a lot of really wonderful people who live here. It’s your loss that you are allowing your own prejudice to prevent you from getting to know them.

The Wizard of Hate says "Yinzer isn't a race" lol. So it's ok to disparage and discriminate against people based on geography or where they grew up?
The Wizard of Hate brands all Pittsburghers as racist Neanderthals. Does that include all the blacks and women and minorities who grew up here? Are they racist xenophobes too?
The Wizard of Hate thinks it's ok to despise entire groups of people as long as your contempt is not based on race. Does that mean it's acceptable to hate a particular ethnic group - e.g. Italians, Jews, or Slavs? An ethnic group isn't a race.
"People here just don't act right". Wow. Talk about ignorant, bigoted generalizations. And yet he's lived here nearly 20 years.
Man, I REALLY, REALLY feel sorry for this guy!
Fortunately most real yinzers not only cherish our shared identity, we have a sense of humor about it!

Hey Wizard
You obviously just don't want to understand others.
Pittsburgh has been listed as one of the friendliest places to live many, many many times. It's a city that pulled itself out of a horrible depression and transformed into an area respected worldwide for its technology and beauty.
People from Pittsburgh are amazingly resilient, fiercely loyal to their friends, family, school and neighborhood. It's also a beautiful mix of people, one can see practically every nation in the world represented in our population and Pittsburgh itself has Always been welcoming to immigrants.
They're also busy people who don't have a lot of time for BS.
I found that out when I moved south long ago and folks there told me that I talked too fast and it seemed mean.
You denigrate an entire city's population based on your experiences alone?
I think the problem might be you.
Can't believe some asshat's gonna come on here and try to put down MY hometown.
By the way Wizard
What shithole place are you from?
Bet you were real popular there too.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled bickering.
DG,
BAM
Do carry on.

Ever think that maybe you are the problem because that is the first time I've heard 'Burgers described that way.

His characterization of Yinzers is a bit over-the-top, but Pittsburgh DOES have a reputation for racism, and, by almost every objective measure, is a horrible place for Black and Latinx people.
