I just want to point out that there's zero evidence Benjamin Franklin ever said this. While not really germane to the argument, it's just another example of basing an argument on false shit.

There is a strong demand for solid backup references for statements like that. I chafe at this from time to time thinking that something is obvious because it is in the news . . .but being able to cite a source or provide a link can spike a counter argument.

If Bengamine Franklin ever said that, it would be a searchable quote.

Ya think? There's a strong demand for solid backup references for all the crapola posted by our MAGA friends.

What does any of this have to do with the "Epic City" that the now-banned OP posted about?

Yes, this thread has degenerated into another "Hate the Muzzies" thread.

And also yes, you can find the Franklin quotes if you just search under Bengamine!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH!

Everyone has a personal bias for about any topic based on heir personal experiences.

At one point in my life, I worked with and among the Arab laborer of an oil rig in a remote part of the Saudi desert. I was invited to an evening supper celebration. The meal was a large platter of "sticky race" with a cinnamon sauce. I liked it. Embedded in the mound of rice were chunks of boiled mutton. Their custom was to reach into this and grab the meat or rice (right hand only) and eat it, hand-to-mouth sitting side by side on the ground. Everyone had a good time, myself included.

What was the celebration? The oldest or senior laborer had gotten a time in service rais in pay from Aramco. But were not celebrating that. Based on this increased income, he had acquired a young wife, his fourth, to care for his "needs" when he retired in a few months. How young? I know, but can't say it here.

OK, so that is an anecdote.

The events of October 7th are not anecdotal. All of that was seen by the world. The atrocities committed were videoed and broadcast, with gleeful pride, by the perpetrators themselves. But that is not a new development in the spread of Islam. These acts and the pride with which they were committed mirror the acts and gleeful pride of the Moslem expansion from the 7th Century through this, the 21st Century.

Events shockingly similar to the October 7th attacks are documented in the c chronicles of contemporary Islamic historians throughout the 14 centuries of history since 633 AD or so.

For me, the most disturbing aspect of this is that the justifications and rhetoric supporting these acts are he same . . .from the medieval past right through the present. My takeaway is that the western societies have evolved beyond the common brutality and religious absolutism of the Dark Ages. Islam, it sems to me,, has not. There was no general outcry gainst it from the world wide Islamic community. Rather much the oopposite in fact.

So how do we inform ourselves on what is or is not the true nature of Islam?

"The truth is out there."

"The truth shall set you free."

Is Aramco hiring? I’m gonna need help in retirement and want to have someone help number 1.

Prepared to allocate 4 SF in backyard for sharia law. Wait. The aunts are protesting as they plan to knock down their mound.

Speaking of small mounds, meanwhile I’ll be doing number 2 (in the bathroom of course).

Sorry. That is a bit longer than I had intended. The short form:

We all have direct personal experiences that form our views of the world. Yet there is non-anecdotal redocumentation available.

So then, how should we inform ourselves?

Since you have been in that area, maybe you know how many different Islamic I will use the term denominations there are as Christianity has a large number of divisions. I believe Islam has several as well, and I know that some of them don't get along very well. I think some is from the basic definitions they use for Islam, but I am not sure.

I am fully aware of the many branches of Islam. I have worked with several of them.

In the early 1980s when I was there, in Saudi Arabia, the dominant branch of Islam is Wahabi Suni. The minority branch was Shiite, the dominant sect in Iran. It has been represented to me and I have seen that these two major branches largely despise each other. The disagreement goes back to a succession conflict between the followers of Mohamed's grandson and those who opposed his bid for leadership. I could be mistaken in this, but that is how I have it just now.

In any case, the history of the early Islamic expansion in the 7th Century is well documented by contemporary Moslem historians as well as the actual participants. These accounts are the same as similar records for contemporary expansion events for the next thousand years and more.

This was a centuries long attempt to cconquer and subjigate the Christian lands which ahd previously ben the major part of the old Roman Empire. That is, from the middle East through Eastern and western Europe.

the attempt to conquer France, was stopped at the Battle of Tours in 732. Centuries later, an Islamic army was finally halted at the Siege of Vienna, in 1529. The subjugation of Christian lands has been well chronicled by the Moslems themselves who proudly described svegery similar to that of Hamas and Isis in this century over a thousand years later.

This thread has devolved into a screed on religion. It no longer belongs in this forum.

You fellas want to educate yourselves on world religions, this isn’t the place - though I have been made to call for Jesus and his “dad” in numerous provider sessions over the years. But not in this forum.

Thank you YR: I do agree with that.

This morning, I asked the mods to close this thread sent as a report. I would repeat that request again in this post.

with that said, It is my belief that these later posts, while not directly addressing the topic, do tie-back to and support the OP.

I will strongly disagree as the different religions bring about different political dynamics that are being pushed. While it would be great if you could separate them, in reality you cannot.

Please explain how this meta-conversation about the evils of Islam from medieval times impacts the real estate deal that the now-banned OP used to launch a islamophobic dogpile?

This was a race-baiting thread from the get-go. And you're still racing with it, stud.

Needs to be closed or moved or both.
