Clearly, getting killed is no less a sign of failure than is getting captured. So if you're saying that one can't be a hero when getting captured, then it follows that you're saying one can't be a hero when getting killed. Simple physics.

i doubt you ever served. doesn't seem to be your thing yet you claim to know what heroism is. serving does not make you a hero. getting captured doesn't make you a hero. dying in combat doesn't make you a hero.
only an act of heroism makes you a hero. do they give the Medal of Honor to POW's? Nope. do they give the Medal of Honor to every solider who died in combat? Nope.
